This is Deputy Digby Pancake. Sometimes, I am serious. Well, not really. But sometimes, I seriously need to remind you of stuff. Like the Rock Pillow. Everyone has one. How sound did you sleep last night on yours?
I know you may have never heard of the Rock Pillow. And if I could sell them in a store or on that television thing, I wouldn’t sell one. Why? First, I don’t have time for that. Second, I don’t think that many people would consider a pillow made out of a rock to be comfortable. Even though some of you may buy beds that say that they support your back. When you could just have a rock.
When we were hiking this weekend, I got really tired. You see, the persons were taking pictures and videos and boring me and tiring me out. Even Brickle tried to take a nap.
The Sheriff always sleeps with one eye open. And he never truly relaxes. But me? Oh, I can sleep anywhere. And I found the perfect spot underneath a tree with…the Rock Pillow.
The persons thought it was funny. I thought it was comfortable. At first….
But as I continued to try and sleep, the Rock Pillow seemed to get harder. And harder. And harder.
Girl Person told Boy Person that we should probably go home so that I could get into my real bed. But I thought about it. And I knew that the Rock Pillow had called my name for a reason. There was a lesson to be learned from it.
You see, I think that some persons hurry through life so much and worry so much that they get kind of a hard heart. Maybe they work a job that makes them tired because people ask things of them over and over. Maybe they work in animal rescue and have seen some bad things and have a hard time loving people anymore. When they go to bed at night, they can’t sleep as sound as they want to. They have a Rock Pillow.
It may seem that by ignoring others and not feeling the love that they should for them is easier. At first. When they go to sleep at night, maybe for many years, they ignore that Rock Pillow. But eventually, they have to change their hard hearts and learn to love again. To have a softer pillow. To be able to sleep like sleep should be. Peaceful. With reflection on the day. And being comfortable with who you are and how you treated others that day, knowing that some bad people doesn’t make everyone a bad people. Yes, that is correct grammar for me.
So when you are ready to get rid of your Rock Pillow, remember this. It may take you some time to figure out how to love others again. It may take you some time to remember why you loved them in the first place. But when you finally get a fluffy pillow? You will wonder why you didn’t get one sooner.
