This is Deputy Digby Pancake. If there is one thing I know about besides pancakes, well, it is sleep.
If there is one thing that this area of Virginia knows, it is trains.
And cats. And a cat named Chessie who really likes to sleep like me.
There is always something when you are traveling that you didn’t expect to find. It was kind of like that in Clifton Forge, Virginia this weekend when the persons took a break from driving to see what was around.
Sheriff Brickle and I needed a nap because we were really tired from hiking and driving so much. That’s when the persons found the trains.
And a cat named Chessie. They couldn’t wait to get home to tell us all about Chessie.
Well, you know that Brickle likes cats. And I like cats as much as I like a naked pancake. I really don’t too much, but will tolerate them. So I wasn’t too interested about Chessie until I heard how much she liked to sleep in air conditioned train cars. Girl Person explained that Chessie was a pretty famous cat and that all the children loved her back then. She said that Chessie had lot of adventures and liked to sleep in the first air conditioned train cars.
I thought to myself that this must have been pretty special back then. And I thought of how many trips Chessie must have taken! She got to see lots of things and get loved by many people. She probably slept so good because her days were spent good. Yeah, kinda like me.
You know, persons are always waiting for the perfect opportunities to have a good day. They plan and they plan. But sometimes, I think it is better to just get on board any day with a good attitude and make it fun. You can make it an adventure.
Sleep after a good day when you are happy with yourself is a sweet thing, isn’t it? Don’t wait for a rude awakening in life to realize what is important.
I seem to sleep the best after we have had a good day together as a family. It doesn’t matter if it is a day of adventure riding around the Blue Ridge Parkway. It doesn’t matter if is a day that we just sat around at the campsite listening to the creek. Because wherever we go, I choose to buy my ticket to happy. Which gives me a ride on a peaceful sleep train. And don’t you deserve that too?
At the end of the day, not only do we go to sleep with ourselves, but we go to sleep with the ones we love.
We wake up with the ones we love. And we spend our days with the ones we love. Never forget to be good not only to yourself, but those around you.
There is a lot to be said for being a comfort to the world like Chessie, and being comfortable with yourself too.
