This is Fruitycake. This world has a lot on it and in it, doesn’t it? It has you, and me. It has wild pigs and serpents. That’s what they call snakes here in this Italy place.
And it also has hornets…a lot of them that like to be, well, right here. Like a jack in the box, they popped up out of nowhere.
When we first got here to Brickle’s house, we found an old hornet nest that was almost as big as the whole house. They had made it on our bedroom window. And I think that they are trying to come back.
Because yesterday, we saw them…a swarm of them looking for a place to call home. Now, if you’ve ever seen one hornet, you know that they mean business. And a swarm of hornets? They mean a lot to business.
Because we were so frightened at seeing them come towards us when we were having lunch outside, Boy Person sounded the alarm. He told me and Girl Person that if they come towards us, we get away. He said if they come inside, we get out. And we are hoping that they don’t do that.

The dangers and challenges here have surprised us in a way.
But they also remind us that the earth is a big place and a small place all at the same time. Everyone has a place in in. Even the hornets.
But it’s our place to respect them and leave them alone. Just like the wild pigs. I haven’t learned that fully yet though. They sure do turn this Fruitycake into an upside down one.
I can only imagine if Brickle was here. Hornets and bees made him mad! Digby too.

And they had the instinct to bite them first before they were bit. I think maybe that’s how most of us can be if not aware of it. We feel we have to fight to be seen or heard. We hurt others before we can get hurt. When in reality, sometimes just living our own lives and leaving others to there’s is easier.
Today marks nine months since Brickle has been gone.
And although we have so much more to do, we are working hard to reach others and teach others about all wildlife.
His mission was to make sure we got here and to find a way to help others like he did. If you’d like to help us celebrate his life and legacy today by helping us build toad houses in May to support the blog, we would appreciate it. Not many understand the importance of toads in the world! Where you live too.

And no one supported the blog yesterday at all or the toad houses. That’s ok, I’ll try to keep the blog up for May, but if the hornets come around, I may have to offer them a room for rent.

Urgent Message: We appreciate those who have helped with the blog this month with your recurring contribution! The contributions however don’t cover our expenses to produce this blog and content. We feel what we do is needed and we hope you do too. We support all animal rescues and shelters that are trying to make a difference. Our social media exposure for rescues is free and we keep our pages open for them only, and not sponsors currently. This is a costly endeavor for us, and we would love to continue for May. If you’d like to contribute the information is below. Thank you for helping us to save lives, because you do.

Hi Fruity – I’ll try to send a donation when I get my monthly annuity in a few days.😘
I love bees but am terrified of hornets! They are mean and the sting is SO painful! We had hornets start a nest on our deck in Annapolis and destroyed it the evening that we found it!
Fruity, I agree with Brickle that hornets or bees make me mad because I’m afraid to get stung. I remember when I was with my sister and brother in law and we had parked somewhere and when we came out the car was covered in bees! Somehow we got out of there but my brother-in-law had swallowed one bee and he was coughing to get it out. We were all laughing but he could have been stung, which would not have been funny. Always on guard!
