Put Down The Saw

This is Fruitycake.  I know you probably missed me yesterday. I definitely missed you.

But this was one of my many duties. I can’t type the blog by myself. If I did you would just get this  ytrejlloihtghgfcyghbnk.  Some of it would make sense sometimes. Or all the time. You decide.

Any amount is greatly appreciated today

But I had to put my paw down with an extra loud bark to make Girl Person stop. Not just slow down, but stop. Because she was about to make some very big mistakes with a saw.

Now, she knew that when you have a concussion, you shouldn’t push yourself. But up here on the mountain, we have to do things.

We had to go into town to get a few supplies to last us till at least Sunday because of the rainstorms again.

We had to get fuel for our heaters because of more cold. And we had to take a bus and train. Should she have done all that? Nope. But we also had to live.

We also needed wood for our stove downstairs that keeps us warm. But it’s been raining so much that it’s hard to find the wood. It’s been so cold that we’ve used all our wood already. And so off she went with Boy Person to find some and yep. A saw was needed to cut them. She knew with a concussion she shouldn’t use a chainsaw. But an electric saw seemed quite ok. And you know what  folks?

A concussion and any type of saw? That does not sound correct. And it was at that moment she realized, she was not going to outthink a concussion. She couldn’t film what we needed to film that day. She couldn’t write the blog we needed to write that day. And she let me and Boy Person take over. No, she didn’t hand me the saw.

It took her almost passing out after pizza, getting sick and being confused with a saw to make her stop and take a day off. What will it take for you? What will it take for you to see you need time off too? No matter what bills you have to pay, no matter what you have to do, if you’re not here, it won’t get done anyway.

I may not have written the blog yesterday, but my work was done. And taking a day off may be work to some. But it has to be done. For your health. For your loved ones. For the ones that would miss you the most.

When you bite off more than you can chew, sometimes, you even have put the saw down too.

Fruity, you are so correct! We all need to listen to our bodies and when your body screams ‘I need a day off’ you need to listen. What happens to me, I get real tired. I try everyday to stay up until 9 PM in my living room and then move to my bedroom to watch tv until 10:30 or 11 PM. I’m not lazy, I get up everyday at 6:15AM. I am a morning person, just like my day was. Even if we had a day off, I have never been able to sleep beyond 6:30. Of course, when I was much younger and out with friends, I partied. Anyway, Fruity, enjoy the weekend! Make Girl Person rest up until she’s fully recovered from her concussion.
