This is Fruitycake. Steps. We have climbed more steps the last few months than I care to admit.

I didn’t get this body by sitting around on my imaginary couch, you know. 

But what I’m saying is that we really have stepped it up with climbing.

We climb up our path and down our path. We hike and encounter more steps. There are steps into the bus. The train.

Everywhere. Steps.

And I think we have gotten stronger from them. But at first, it was really hard. We weren’t strong. 

Yesterday, Boy Person built some steps here. Because no one lived here for a very long time, the earth had tried to take the house and the land back over.

Mud and dirt and rocks covered the front of our house so deep that we didn’t even know the walkways outside were there. We didn’t know that their were beautiful flower beds and treasures beneath.

So as we have began to dig, we find more and more. And yet, sometimes, you have to stop and make sure what you are doing won’t cause something else to fall.

Like yesterday, when Boy Person was trying to make the front of the house look a little better. And figured out if he dug out all the dirt, things may fall. And so he decided to reinforce it. With more steps. Into the dirt already there.

It wasn’t a plan he had. But the steps proved to be strong. A brace of sorts. Isn’t that like life sometimes? 

Yesterday, Girl Person was having a frustrating day. She needed a brace of sorts. And a friend of hers reminded her how much she was needed. And loved. And how she could be strong. And not to give up. And this friend was her brave. Her strong steps. 

Steps may not always lead somewhere. But you still have to try and climb. Sometimes steps help build your strength for other steps and journeys in life. Don’t give up. Get in your steps.
