This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle.  There isn’t much in life that I have not heard about.  I am very well traveled.  I am very open to new ways of looking at things, and lessons to be learned.  But one thing that I never expected to love so much was this bouquet.  The celery bouquet.

Celery.  Probably not one of my favorite things unless you dip it in peanut butter.  Everything is better dipped in peanut butter.  Even me.  For a moment… until I lick it off.

As we hiked our way around Franklin, North Carolina this weekend, we came upon a Farmer’s Market.  I am not a farmer, but I would like to try it out one day.  I would grow the biggest peanuts…all organic of course…in the world.

But until we settle down for a bit, I suppose that it is not practical to grow the biggest organic peanuts in the world in an RV.  So for now, I guess we will have to go to the Farmer’s Market and see what they have.  And the persons stopped by one in Franklin, North Carolina this weekend.

Girl Person and Boy Person don’t think too far ahead in case you haven’t noticed.  And as Girl Person realized that she only had $5 to her name in this small, country town, she walked around slowly.  What could she spend her $5 on?  Oh, it was such a decision, although if they would have had a giant, organic peanut for sale, and it was $10, I would have kindly sold Digby’s pants to buy it.  Until I remembered he does not wear pants.

It didn’t take Girl Person long to see a few bouquets on a table and the word “organic”.  She didn’t know if they were flowers, or weeds, or what.  So she asked the persons what they were.  They told her that the bouquets were celery and were $2.

Girl Person had not ever saw celery that deep green before.  She told them that the bouquets were very pretty, and all of a sudden, one of the persons pulled out one bouquet…different from all the rest.

Girl Person was told that this bouquet had many things in it.  Greens and celery and lettuces.  And Girl Person tried to brace herself.  There was only one left.  She only had $5.  How much would it be?

The person told her that it was $4 and Girl Person was so excited.  Here she was with a $1 to spare.  Here she was, about to purchase a bouquet, that to her, would be remembered almost as much as the bouquet she carried at her wedding to Boy Person.  She was thinking that they should have had celery and onions in their flower bouquets.

As she sat it on the dash of the car, she realized that it was sure the little things in life that make a day wonderful.  She also realized that onion in our car makes it smell better than dog hair and dirt.

We can think that big things and big events are what are most important.  But it’s all the little things like a celery bouquet that make for memories that all add up to life.  Life is about seeing the special little reminders that there is still good in our world, reasons to love our world…waiting to be discovered.

The next time that you think you are too busy to appreciate the little things, remember that you really are not.  The truth is, we fill our lives with what we want to.  We see the things we want to.  We talk about the things we want to.  Are you offering up your best?

Do you stand out among the ordinary, bad things of the world by being true to who you are?  Best doesn’t have to be complicated.  You aren’t complicated.  You have known yourself for a long time.

We can all hope to smell as good as the celery bouquet.  Especially Digby.  And as Girl Person took out the onions for me and Digby, she cooked us up some scrambled eggs and she made a big pot of spaghetti sauce for her and Boy Person.

Be as unexpected as that celery bouquet.  Know what you are about, not the things that can take up our time away from growing.  You’ve got this! Now, grow a giant, organic peanut for me.  I’ve got $1 left.
