Electric Avenue
This is Fruitycake. There are a lot of things that happen here that may seem shocking. How someone can fail off the mountain in a blink of an eye.

How bats can come in, fly around and leave in two seconds. How wasps can try to build a nest under our bed. Or how the waterfall gets so full in the winter that it sounds like a freight train.

Yes. There are a lot of shocking things. But I’ve been having my share of shock. You see, I had these times, episodes I’ll call them, for a little while now. I would be laying down or resting. Maybe even asleep. That’s when it happened the most often. A feeling that something was shocking me. And it would jolt me up, no matter where I was, in an uncontrollable way. Kind of like a toaster pops up bread. But it only happened now and then.

For the past month though, the episodes keep getting more and more frequent. Now it happens when I’m awake too. And it’s been worrying the persons. So Girl Person sat down with me yesterday and asked me to let her know what I thought about it. She does that sometimes. No one else does this with me. She sits very quiet. She looks into my eyes if I’m ok with that right then. And she will touch my paw or fur. She will really try and listen.

I told her that I didn’t like these episodes. That although they don’t hurt right now, I do want to know why they are happening and what they are so that I can understand. Sometimes not knowing is the worse. And I just want to know. I would prefer they don’t happen at all. That’s why I run to her or Boy Person for comfort when they shock me. She listened. She is going to work on getting an appointment for me. It’s a bad week with the biggest holiday here in this Italy place and most Italians actually take off the whole month of August. But she is going to try. And I’m so happy about that. I just want to know. I wish more persons asked their dogs questions and actually listened.

After she talked to me, she was really tired. We’ve been showing our rustico and on top of the heat, the persons even had to get supplies yesterday. Then Boy Person had to fill our water tanks and hooked up the generator. He forgot the electric cord that had to go thru the window, thru the bathroom. And told Girl Person the tank was full and she could shower. Well, she wondered why an electric cord was in there and decided to ask. She thought she would ignore it. But I’m glad she didn’t.

You see, electric avenue seems to be leading up this path.
We can all have trials. It’s easy to get worn down. We may feel like we can’t take one more thing but that one thing may happen anyway like a cord in the shower.

So take the time to stop if you have to. Don’t walk down electric avenue alone.

We know we aren’t. We know you’re here. We just recommend you watch your step.
Fruitycake
P.S. The truth is, without me, there is no Fruitycake blog. There are no Fruitycake affirmations or pages. I’m the dog behind all of it, and taking care of me has to come first.
I need a little extra help right now. With these episodes becoming more frequent, Girl Person is working on getting me checked by a vet and finding out what is happening. My care, appointments and whatever tests I may need are another expense.
If my words, my adventures or my ridiculous way of looking at life have made you smile, please consider helping with my care today. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps keep me cared for and keeps our rescue mission going.
