My Abilities Don’t Have To Make Sense To Everyone

This is Fruitycake.

I have some abilities.

I can hear a cheese wrapper being opened from approximately three countries away.

I can determine whether a person is trustworthy in about seven seconds.

And I can somehow take up an entire bed even though I am only one dog.

These are gifts, people.

Maybe you have some abilities that other people don’t quite understand either.

Maybe you see possibilities where everyone else sees problems.

Maybe you have an idea that sounds a little strange.

Maybe you want to make something nobody else understands yet.

Maybe you do things differently.

Good.

Different does not mean wrong.

Sometimes the very thing that makes people tilt their heads at you today is the thing they will admire about you tomorrow.

You do not need everyone to understand what you are capable of.

You need you to understand it.

Believe in the things you are good at. Keep practicing the things you want to be better at. And don’t shrink your abilities just because they don’t fit neatly into someone else’s idea of what you should be doing.

Some of the best things in this world probably started with someone saying,

“Well, that’s a strange idea.”

So today, I’m going to believe in my abilities.

Even the strange ones.

Especially the strange ones.

Because sometimes strange is just another word for something the world hasn’t seen yet.

Today’s Affirmation

I believe in my abilities. I do not need everyone else to understand them. I will trust what makes me different, keep learning, keep trying and give my strange little ideas a chance to become something wonderful.
