Surveying The Damage

This is Fruitycake. What a night. Every time one of these unexpected and dramatic storms come thru the mountains, we wonder if we have ever witnessed such a storm.

Last night, we felt like we were in a laser light show, disco, and roller coaster all rolled into one. We expected a few storms this week, but not like this.

The wind was so strong that it tried to blow the tarps off the roof Boy Person had secured yesterday, just in case. There he was, with the bedroom window open trying to pull down a roof tarp and bungee cords.

It was a sight to see from my little bed. Until the little bed fell down again with a dramatic thud as loud as the thunder. It seems to do that at the most inconvenient times. But it only added to the dramatic show in progress.

We thought the pigs were the only danger to our garden. But apparently, wind and rain can tell a tale of drama too.

Then, Boy Person’s cement job of a few weeks ago came into test as the flood waters tried to get it. They didn’t succeed. Survey says?

Turn around and go back to the rock you came from.

Trees fell and so did our clothes.

But surveying the damage, we made it ok. Now for the next round of storms tomorrow? We will see, but we can do it. We made it thru this one ok. And we have made it thru others.

Surveying the damage can be scary after a storm, because you can see what you went through. And yet, you can make repairs and even better? Fix things to last. That’s what we do here on the outside and the inside. How?

Help here

All of her life, Girl Person had cared what others think of her to the point where it caused her to not do her best. Sure, you may think it would do the opposite. But when you don’t know your self worth, you can’t be the you that matters. You try to live only for others. And by doing so, you’ll never know your worth.

I tell Girl Person that I’m a dog, but I know how persons are. Most of the time they are living thru something all of the time instead of actually living. At some point, and only you’ll know when this is, you stop, and you survey the damage. You take note of what hurt you. You look at what you truly feel about yourself. You. No one else. Not even a million people on that social media. And if you know what you need to accomplish, you do it! You block people who don’t know you and are mean. I mean block! We have actual blocks to rebuild this place into a place to be used for animals. We don’t have time for that kind of damage.

Please consider helping here! Even $1 matters!!

Does Girl Person and Boy Person know this is hard and not for everyone? Yes. Do they know they are going about it slowly to save money and try to still make a difference with all the work? Yes. Our way isn’t everyone’s way. But after surveying the damage of her internal storm, Girl Person says she knows her worth and what she can do. And it’s time to rebuild in all the ways.

Maybe you feel the same. Maybe it’s time you start to survey your damage. And let’s all get to work!
