A Little Rocky

This is Deputy Digby Pancake.  Into everyone’s life a little rain must fall.  Or hurricane.   Or reservations.  Or rocks. Sometimes, all at once.

Seems like we were running from a hurricane just a few weeks ago.  Because we were running from a hurricane just a few weeks ago.  Now, another one named Michael is on the way.  And again…what to do?

Well, truth be told, and I always tell the truth, I didn’t know about this Michael hurricane character.  Not watching that television thing will make you not know some stuff.  Most I don’t want to know about anyway.  But I suppose some stuff you need to know about.  Like Michael. You also need to know that if you are our family, that you have somewhere to park your house.

And we thought we did.  Until we did not. The Rose Cottage that we were going to park at for two more weeks? Well. Apparently, someone else had the same idea, and that computer thing which is about as useless as the television thing told them that they could stay there.  Which means we could not.

Combine that with the fall season in North Carolina and a hurricane named Michael, and well, your chances of finding somewhere to stay?  Pretty rocky.  At best.

Rocky? No.  Not this Rocky.

Or this one who spells her name a little different.  No.  Not her.

Or this one either.

Not even this one.

No, this one.  This rock that pictured, and was a symbol of all of the stuff that we thought was going wrong in our day.

Reservations?  Cancelled.  Rain?  It’s on like Donkey Kong.

Yep. This rock.  This rock seemed to be just how we felt with obstacles we were encountering this week.

As with all obstacles, you have a choice.  You can either stop and turn around.  You can try to get around it.  You can try to climb over it.  Or you can RSVPee on it.  I RSVPeed on it, but then, I knew what had to be done.  We had to get around this.  And so I looked at the persons like I always do.  And I did my Deputy Digby job.  We would find somewhere to stay.  We would do this!  We wanted to stay in the mountains for two more weeks so that we could go to a Cat Museum, see some leaves, and more waterfalls.  So there had to be an answer.  Brickle knew it too.

So the persons looked at that rock, and decided that if we could get around a rock, we would get around no reservations.  The nice people at this campground helped us, and found us one last spot just right up the road.  No, it wasn’t what we had planned for.  But plans sometimes are the problem themselves.  You see, plans don’t allow for imagination.  If they are set in stone, that is no fun.  The rocks are fun.  And as we changed our plans and regrouped, we knew that this was going to be a great few weeks!  This might be the best change of plans ever!  We could do this!  Rocks or no rocks.  Hurricane or no hurricane.  We would prefer no hurricane though…

So the next time your plans turn rocky, remember this.  Those rocks might lead you down another path.  Another path that you were meant to be on in the first place.  Maybe you just didn’t listen. Maybe you didn’t watch your step.  Now is your chance.
