This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle. Welcome to Sweet Home Alabama, y’all!!!
We are back in the south, my accent is coming out, and Girl Person says we are getting closer to home in that Florida place. It sure has been a long 8 months on the road. And we haven’t taken one day off since May 2nd when we left on our adventure. Have I mentioned that before? Yeah, I know. The persons have been working hard and me and the Deputy have too. But we are going to be working hard still this week in Alabama to show you what a great state it is, a great rescue called the Baldwin Humane Society that has been in operation since 1979 and I also get to show Alabama my handsome. They deserve that before we take a little time off.
But I have to mention something. Me and Deputy Digby came from around this Alabama place in a shelter on the Florida/Alabama line. That is where we started, we were moved to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, and then our story goes from there. Two dogs from this Alabama place. So yeah, we have been here before. And truth be told, I am kinda nervous about being back. I would have never thought that me and Digby could be on this kind of adventure. Two rescue dogs trying to make a difference for animals around the country? It is the least we could do. Why? Because someone decided we were worth saving. Someone decided that they would not let us die. And we made it. But many of our friends did not. We are back, Alabama. So get ready. Instead of dwelling on the bad that happened to us here, we are here to show your good. Your GREAT! We are back. They say Alabama is the heart of “Dixie”. For us, it is the heart of where our rescue started. And that my friends, is a great thing no matter why we needed to be rescued.
Yesterday, we drove from Cleveland, Tennessee to near Birmingham, Alabama. Today, we have another 6 hours to drive to Gulf Shores, Alabama. Why Gulf Shores? Can you say water? The ocean? We haven’t seen it in months. And we need it! So are you ready for the best week ever in Alabama? Let’s. Do. This!!!

“Step by step, day by day” getting closer to home. Dorothy dais it best, “There’s no place like home.”
Hi! you’ve finally (almost) reached the place that I grew up and yes, there is a beach! If you stood in the water, looking up at the shore, then to the left, you’d be looking at my growing up home in Pascagoula, MS. I also have friends in almost all those Southern places, including the city you just left, Birmingham (home of the vulcan) and my good friends, Norma and Ray! Enjoy your return to your Florida place and a little well deserved vacation. Maggie Bafalon (in Northern CA’s wine country). We’ll leave the light on for you! I can guarantee you that you boy and girl persons will love this area- and you too because we have some great rescue places!!! (not to mention the wine)
“One mile closer to home” y’all. I love Gulf Shores love the beaches and the water too. And it’s a little bit warmer too. Y’all have made a very real difference in so many animals lives. Show off to everyone how adopting a couple of very cool dogs can make somebody’s life much richer, show off your handsome Sheriff! I’m glad y’all will get to go home for the holidays! You need to be with rest of family to celebrate Christmas and to recharge your batteries before you begin the final leg of the adventure of a lifetime. Have a great week!
