This is Fruitycake.
I don’t usually write a blog or share a positive affirmation on the weekend like I do during the week. But you know what? Sometimes you need to encourage others to encourage yourself. So here I am. And if I can help someone feel a little better today, then I will feel better too.
This morning, Boy Person and I started down the path from our little house. A little way down, we were stopped by a fallen tree. A very large tree. And this tree blocked our way completely.

There is one other path we’ve been trying to clear for weeks, but it’s not finished. Right now, it’s our only real option. And here’s the thing: I can’t use a chainsaw, but Boy Person can. He has a lot to do and a lot of fuel is needed to do it. So we found a way around the tree through the blackberry vines. Yes, it took a while. But we did it.
In life, you have to figure out a way. Every single day.
Sometimes a tree blocks our path. We may think there is no way around a certain problem. But stop and think. What is this thing blocking your way really trying to tell you?
For us, we can be thankful it didn’t fall on us yesterday or last night. We can be thankful that Girl Person rescheduled her trip home for another week. We can be thankful that we are still here to fix the problem. But most of all, we can be thankful for the problem itself because it is making things clearer for the persons and helping them see what matters most.

So if you are facing something today that is blocking your path, here’s what I say: reevaluate. Is it there for a reason? Is it time to make changes this season?
We haven’t started this weekend the way we wanted to. It has been a hard few weeks, and it has felt like forever with our family apart. And I think for the persons, it’s no longer about finding the right or wrong way forward. It’s simply about finding a way through.
We love you and are so happy you are part of our lives every day. We hope we encourage you as much as you encourage us. We hope we show you how a rescue dog like me—and all dogs and animals—can make your life better and teach you valuable lessons along the way.
When a tree falls and blocks my path, I choose to see it not as the end of my journey, but as an invitation to grow, adapt, and discover new possibilities. I trust that every obstacle carries a lesson, a hidden opportunity, or a better route than the one I originally planned. I have the strength, wisdom, and resilience to navigate unexpected challenges with patience and confidence. What seems like a setback today may be guiding me toward something greater tomorrow. I move forward with faith in myself and in the unfolding of my journey, knowing that no barrier can stop the progress of a determined and hopeful spirit.
We want everyone to see that. We want people to live their best lives while saving lives.
And right now, more than ever, we are grateful for you.
Love,
Fruitycake
If you would like to help this weekend, we urgently need support for fuel and basic necessities as we work through these challenges. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us to keep moving forward, and carry this mission into the future.
The truth is that times are difficult right now, and your support today will make an immediate difference. If Fruitycake’s message, our rescue work, or the animals we share have ever touched your heart, please consider helping now.
Thank you for being part of this journey and for standing with us when we need it most.
