“I Simply Don’t Care”

“I Simply Don’t Care”

This is Girl Person.

I didn’t start a dog blog fifteen years ago to talk about myself. And yet, here I am, on a Sunday, trying to be open and transparent. Because sometimes I have these waves come over me that tell me someone out there needs to hear something. Today is one of those days.

I never imagined that rescue dogs could bring people together from all over the world. But I see it so clearly now. So clearly. You care. I care. And most people just don’t.

I had a conversation with someone yesterday about animals. When someone I know doesn’t have the same respect or love for animals that I do—or even a fraction of that love—I can’t comprehend it. And then they made one simple remark:

“I simply don’t care.”

And it explained so much.

Somehow, out of the multitudes of people who don’t care, I’ve found a tribe of people who do. We may not always make the right decisions. We may need help ourselves. We may be tired, poor, or depressed. But we care.

Goodness, I am so happy you do.

Thank you.

Because I know that if you’re reading this, you’ve either followed the blog, shared a post, or maybe you just found us today. No matter what, you care. And that gives us hope that those who are drawn to our work may spread that caring attitude to others.

It’s hard to stand up for animals sometimes because we may feel different, or we may worry that others will view us as fanatical. But it’s quite the opposite.

Caring is normal.

Caring is natural.

Somehow, the world has decided that animals are less than. And we won’t let that happen.

I didn’t “win” the conversation I had about animals and their value. But I realized that even when we can’t change someone’s opinions or behaviors in a single moment, that doesn’t mean it won’t make a difference later.

I am going through one of the most difficult times of my entire life right now. But the little girl inside me who loved animals and knew her calling has always cared. And I won’t stop now.

It would mean so much to me and our future if you keep walking with us. If you keep caring.

No matter what each of us may be lacking right now, or what we may be going through, we can care. And caring for animals extends to caring for each other.

Even when we have differences of opinion and disagree about what is right and wrong, be kind. Extend kindness to people just as we do to animals.

And let’s see what can happen.

During this time, especially this week as I prepare to travel back on the 29th, all support is deeply appreciated as we face many added expenses and necessities.

We are not doing this as a hobby. We devote our social channels and outreach to making rescue dogs the breed of choice on a full-time basis.

Any amount toward this cause helps us today:
