I Know Something They Don’t

This is Fruitycake. Today, Girl Person and I went on a walk around the mountain. Because you know, we don’t walk enough. Just kidding!

But walking in the morning gives us time to think and pray and think some more.

Yes, we always welcome each new day as a way to help someone or something. And to make the earth happy we are here.

I know as a dog how much we appreciate persons when they try to be nice and be good and simply acknowledge someone besides themselves. If you do that, you are truly a different kind of person. And to the ones who don’t do that? Maybe one day they will start to.

Do you know what I think is a difference between ones who help and ones who don’t? Let me explain.

Well, I didn’t have an easy life to begin with. And I had to take care of myself to survive. But taking care of myself was hard. Very hard.

And yet, I longed for a time when I could be strong enough to help someone else. Like Girl Person. I knew I could take care of another person like no other dog.

Because other dogs didn’t know what I did. They didn’t know loss and hunger and desperation. I know something other dogs don’t. And because of that, I feel different.

And yet, more capable to help others. I have a secret. You know something others don’t too by all those things you went thru and continue to deal with. But you want to help others, don’t you? I know that. Because you have helped us. What a wonderful world!

So when you think you aren’t good enough, remind yourself you can do amazing things today like no one else can for someone else. I can’t wait to hear how you make it a reality today to be all you can be.

I used to think I wasn’t good enough for many things, but then I realized I was going to be a chemist and I realized I needed a small college to become the chemist I had always dreamed of being. I graduated, finally found a job ( this was back in the 1970s) and was an analytical chemist and then an environmental consultant. I helped a lot of companies meet their environmental requirements. I did what I had always wanted to do!
