This is Fruitycake. There has already been a whole season of summer in a few days here.
I can’t really explain how hot it is, and no matter how hard I dig on this rug and floor, it’s not cool enough.
Sure, I have all the fans aimed at me in here, and our house is built into the side of a rock. But wow. Let me tell you…it’s really hot.
In our lifetimes, we are faced with many challenges. We are also given an opportunity with every challenge to give up, and call the whole thing off. Whatever that thing may be.
For us, it’s been hard to think the last few days or to do anything but stay cool. Even though I get my walk in early, the heat catches up.
Today, there was a shower in the waterfall for the persons and lots of water. Girl Person especially says that she is not as tough lately as she wants to be. And she was about to just give in to frustration today. Calling the whole thing off….unless…she could get a treat. And she remembered she could make a tomato sandwich.
Now, if you have not had a tomato from this Italy place, let me tell you, it’s something you’ll never forget after one bite.
And a grilled tomato sandwich with olive oil? That was the “unless” today. Life was worth living. Tomorrow was a day to get to. And this house project and rescue sanctuary could be continued. All because of a tomato sandwich.
You never, ever know what someone else needs to hear or to see. Maybe it’s a kind word or a simple wave. Maybe it’s a smile or a tomato sandwich. You could be someone’s “unless”. Yes! You!
There are so many opportunities to give up. But just as many to keep going and to take another bite.
Keep going today and enjoy a juicy tomato sandwich. Or pizza.
Because that’s MY “unless” today! What’s yours?
