This is Fruitycake. Wow. I can’t really tell you how hot it is here, and even if I did, you wouldn’t hear me over the cicadas screaming all day.
If you’re wondering what that constant sound is in our videos right now, it’s these bugs that scream all summer. They love to start as soon as the sun comes up. And they don’t stop until the middle of the night. Yes, this will go on all summer.
I never thought I would wish for rain. But it’s hasn’t rained in weeks and now, instead of slipping in mud, we slide on the dust. I kick up the dust. I like to kick it on Girl Person just for some simmer magic fun. A dog has to do what he has to do to lighten up the mood around here.
Summer is a wonderful season! I enjoy the pretty water and seeing persons having a good time. But it’s strange, because at night, it doesn’t cool down much. It stays the same temperature. Kind of like that Florida place.
I have Girl Person duty right now. Me and her sleep downstairs and share the biggest fan. Boy Person sleeps up stairs on a separate bed like Dick Van Dyke. I like sitcoms. But not all this sleeping drama.
Girl Person tosses and turns, sticks her head out the window, and last night she considered sleeping in the waterfall.
She got up last night when I moved to put the fan directly back on me and knocked it over, spilled my water everywhere, tried not to get us electrocuted and that’s when Boy Person ran downstairs to see if it was an earthquake. He was hoping it wasn’t an earthquake because he finally got that glass from the glass guy yesterday, who gave him a wrong kind of glass. But hey, he gave him two pieces of wrong glass, so even if it would have been an earthquake, he would have had extra.
Sometimes, life can get loud. Tossing and turning and wondering if it will get better. But it always will, if we give things a chance to get better and cool off.
The trick is to enjoy life and all its seasons.
