This is Fruitycake. Some days cannot be explained in words.
But since I only know how to type in words, I will try. If I barked in words, that wouldn’t make much sense. But neither does what happened yesterday. Or maybe it makes more sense than we know.
We were having a busy day of working on the house and the yard.
The sun was shining and Girl Person was working on planting and pulling weeds for Brickle’s area.
Boy Person was trying to find wood for the fire and apparently, when he crawled down a spot on our property he had not been yet, he saw it. The bridge that went across the stream.

Again, some things are hard to put into words. And he really couldn’t make sense of why this bridge was there, or how old it was. All he knew was he had do get Girl Person and surprise her.
Little did he know that Girl Person was feeling pretty useless that day. She felt like she was taking more energy from the world than she was giving. She felt like she was so focused on surviving that she couldn’t help others the way she wanted to. And so she prayed that she could help at least one person that day.

Boy Person casually asked Girl Person as she was pulling weeds if she wanted to go see a spot on the property that he had found a beautiful view of the stream. She normally would have said she would go later, but she didn’t. She just went, and they carefully hiked down to that stream. It was steep and more slippery than other parts of the land. And the remnants of landslides were there. He told her one day it would be a good idea to build a little bridge across it and she just thought it was another idea. And then he said, “you know, a bridge like this.” And she saw it.

If a bridge can build a gap to an ordinary day, this was the time. They marveled at the mystery of it and why it was there and who built it and why. And thought that was the only mystery.
All of a sudden, like a bad dream, they saw a hand. Then a leg. Then a cane. And then and old man. Hitting limbs and crawling on top of that bridge. They were both speechless. Who was that? He didn’t see them and as they tried to collect their thoughts on what was happening, they decided that if they spoke, one sound would cause this man to fall off the tall bridge in fright. They held their breath, waiting for him to reach a spot where they could get him and all Boy Person yelled was “ciao”
Now, in any normal situation, not this one, you would wonder what was happening. But sometimes, you just do. He couldn’t speak English. We could only speak a little Italian. And yet, we weren’t strangers here. We just did what we had to do and pulled him up the mountain. He didn’t know why we were in the middle of the woods and we certainly didn’t know why he was there. The mystery wasn’t even the bridge any more.
As we pulled him to our path, he told us that he knew I was their baby and asked my name. He told us that his child had died but he later had another. He said to cherish me. And also told us he had got lost in the woods. We found out that he was trying to get back to his car after a long hike so he didn’t have to pay for parking and we laughed.

The whole situation seemed ridiculous and yet miraculous. We gave him water. And a cookie. And he disappeared around the corner.

If you’ve ever wondered if something is a miracle, then don’t wonder. Because it is. The bridge is beautiful and certainly a mystery. But it is no mystery why my persons were there. You have a purpose too in this world today. Ask to know what that is. And see what happens.
