This is Digby Pancake. Have you ever had a day that goes perfectly? Me neither. Because no day is perfect. That’s not how it happens. No day is picture perfect. And that’s ok. Or is it?
Monday, we were supposed to be already on our way to Jekyll Island, Georgia. But we had a few things happen. And we couldn’t save our mouse friend, Squeaky Clean.
All of the sadness put us behind schedule. All of our problems seemed bigger. And nothing else really mattered to us except our sadness. It just kind of overtook us.
So we didn’t get on the road. We ran behind schedule. Then a million and one other little things happened. And before we knew it, it was late in the day Tuesday and we still had eight hours to drive.
The persons sure have learned a lot on the road. One thing they have learned is to be patient. Another is to be flexible.
And yet, we had persons and sea turtles waiting on us at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center.
But Girl Person knew what she had to do. She had to see if there was any way we could move our visit to the center a day later to Thursday. She didn’t want to ask. She didn’t want to disappoint anyone or inconvenience anyone. But we were tired. Very tired. And she just thought, well, maybe she should ask. And so. She did.
And what did the persons at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center say? Coming Thursday would be no problem. Life happens, they said.
Are we flexible not only with ourselves but flexible with others? Are we gracious to others when we can be? Or do we have to stick to a schedule no matter what? We used to be like that. But when others showed us kindness and were gracious, we realized we should act the same. Life happens for everyone. That life may be different that happens. But it’s equally important.
So stay tuned for our visit with the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Thursday!
