This is Girl Person. Everything can change in a day, can’t it? Last week, I told you about our most recent problems.
But I wanted to give you an update on how things are looking now for my surgery and the next few months. Again, I know that updates in real time are not always going to sound like we know what we are doing. Well, we don’t. But I do think it’s important to share real time updates as we always have. Because if I can help someone else, even though you may not have the same problems, perhaps you can realize your won strength!
When we got word that due to political reasons our paperwork was pulled and decisions annulled, it was devastating. As the days went on with no one being able to give us clear answers, we kept trying to navigate how to GET the answers. Being in a different country, you have to accept things are not handled in the time frames you are used to. And sometimes, you can’t do a thing about it. Such was the case here. Although we are fine to be patient, my surgery is scheduled in the states in mid May. It is the only place we could afford the surgery. It is not ideal. But after months of prayers, that decision was made before this debacle.
We have to be honest. This has been a long fight to stay and not one we anticipated. It’s made us question so much. Including how we spend our energy from this point on. And if we are going to fight this hard, it should be for animals and rescue. This has went on so long. We are weary and tired. And not accomplishing anything we want to.

As of this writing, we are going ahead with surgery in the states hoping the papers get sorted out. If they do not, that will mean three months must be spent outside the country. If that happens, and we hope it will not, Nate and Fruity will meet me in England for a few months and we will make plans for the future. I don’t mean to be vague, but what those plans are will have to be prayerfully considered with our future goals in mind. But if I don’t have this surgery, I will keep getting sicker and sicker . And we may not have any options for the future.

This is scary for us. But I have to believe that circumstances are being made for us so that it leads us back to our mission wholeheartedly and so that we don’t waste any time. Life is short. Lessons are been learned and I think of it is as a school we needed to go to! Maybe someone is in charge of this school…

Most importantly, we realize how much we are obligated to either give up or rearrange so that Fruitycake is happy, fulfilled and safe. That and my surgery so that I’m here to take care of him is priority. If we get hurtful comments or judgement, that is not something I will consider. Because he is our responsibility.

Our mission has not changed. But we only have so much time and energy. We were given a purpose to help animals and we hope you’ll continue to be here. We do hope that with all our hearts. Thank you. We love you.
