The Peanut Butter Brickle Celebration

This is Girl Person. Saturday is a day that is very special to me.  It is a date on the calendar that is a reminder of my Peanut Butter Brickle.  Your Peanut Butter Brickle.  Our Peanut Butter Brickle.  It’s the date we were told that he was born on this earth in 2009.  Today, he would have been 17 years old.  Instead, he is forever years old.  And I think that’s amazing.  As amazing as he is. And we are dedicating this whole weekend to him with fun stuff on our socials!

Peanut Butter Brickle was not just a dog.  NO dog is just a dog.  Despite being part wolf, and very hesitant of people, he thrived with travel.  His wild side made it difficult to tolerate children or crowds.  But he made the shelter visits with us, bringing calm to anyone in his presence.  He grew into his larger than life personality and taught me more than any individual ever has or ever will.  I know in my deepest part of my being that he was meant to be with me.  I was meant to be with him.  And together, along with all of you, he accomplished what he was meant to do in this lifetime.  I have no doubts we will accomplish even more together in the next.

Losing Brickle in 2024 was beyond difficult.  Here we were in a new country and a new beginning.  He had just had the absolute best time on an airplane for dogs and his fabulous adventure thru the Cotwolds of England.

But Brickle had a mission to get us to the next phase.  And just like everything he did and accomplished in life, he was successful in that.  But as much as we tried, we could not get past losing him.  It’s only been recently that I can breathe when I think of him.  But lately, his presence with me has been so magical and majestic.  Despite all we’ve went thru, and despite not knowing the future, I’m at peace.

Knowing that wherever we go…even if we have to start traveling again…or in other lands, we will continue what he started.  We will continue the mission and perhaps, no, actually I know, that the cause we have taken up for animal rescue will be first.  Foremost.

And we are flexible as long as we can continue that and do better with that.  Only time will tell.  But we won’t let Brickle or Digby or Fruitycake down. We will continue to use their voices for animals.  We will not let anyone, anything, any country, any person come in the way of that!

Brickle was my soul mate.  This I am sure of.  Brickle loved me and I believe loved you.  I truly know that. He enjoyed the spotlight, the pictures, the voice he was given each day he was with us. And we continue his voice now. Thank you for all YOU do to help us continue.  Thank you for all YOU do for your animals, for others and for making a difference.  We love you.  So did Brickle.
