No Cries For Cold Fries
This is Fruitycake. Have you ever taken a long trip or vacation and you were having the best time…but something made you miss home?
For Girl Person and Boy Person yesterday, they were running some errands and saw some French fries in a window.
Usually, as wonderful as the food is here, there is mostly Italian food. Obviously. We are in this Italy place. So fries? Oh, it was a sight for sore eyes in amongst all the pizza and focaccia displayed.
So Boy Person said he would go order some. He was all excited and came back with a bag for Girl Person full of fries. And she was so happy. Until…she took a bite. And they were cold. Very cold. Molto freddo.
The look on her face made Boy Person start laughing because she says she has never had a bad fry in her life. No, they weren’t bad. Just cold. Just not exactly what she wanted. And she’s had a hard week. So they both felt a little down about those cold fries.
So they kept walking to another store, and that’s when Girl Person saw a little dog. A little dog and her girl person that she sees walking often. But this time, she was in a stroller, there were many people telling the little dog goodbye. And even not knowing the Italian language well, Girl Person understood the little dog was dying. The little dog was tired. The little dog was loved by so many. And so many had come to tell her goodbye.
Now. There is no reason to cry over cold fries. But the little dog? That was a reason. Girl Person decided she wanted to cuddle the little dog too and told her, even though she didn’t know her name, that she had lit up her days and made her smile many times this past year. Just by seeing her. And she told her girl person that she was an example to all on how to love and take care of your dog. Even though she didn’t know she was doing something out of the ordinary, she was extraordinary. Just like you reading this.
You see, you love your animals too. You love me. And even though you may not know when you’re saving a life and making a difference, you are.
In life, there are many reasons to cry. Cold fries? The little problems in life? No. That’s no reason to cry. So dry your eyes and thank someone you see today for being a good person. And here’s a thank you from me too.
