This is Fruitycake. Last night was a hot one in this Italy place.
Very hot! We were so happy that we had our fans upstairs to keep us cooler. It’s still hot, and I miss that air conditioning stuff sometimes.
But it was much more comfortable than the night before!
It was our first night using the fans. And Girl Person didn’t know exactly where to put it so that I would be more comfortable. After all, you just make a Fruitycake comfortable or you have melted jam and no one wants jam in bed .
It was dark and when Girl Person got up, she picked up one of the fans and she was half asleep. She accidentally got her little finger inbetween where it shouldn’t be. And she hooted and hollered like we were back in the south.
It was dark, but she knew she was bleeding cause she felt it, but she tried not to panic, made her way downstairs and turned on a light. Reluctantly. She sort of didn’t want to know. Was she going to be like her Pappy who lost half his finger in the not so famous chainsaw incident in Lutz, Florida place? She didn’t want that.
Yes, her finger was hurt but it was only her nail that came off and not her finger. Now, that was wonderful to see. Wonderful. And now she knows, that finger, that little finger that she took for granted all of her life was pretty important to have. If you have that finger, you are lucky too.
You see, there are countless things about ourselves that we take for granted every day! So many! We may think we have little of value, but value is beyond measure when it comes to how we are made. Value is you and me and the abilities we have. Value is you and me and the impact we can make today for someone else. Value is a day of life, a finger, today.
The Fruitycake way is one of appreciating the small things, like a finger or even a pizza roll.
