This is Fruitycake. Isn’t it amazing how optimistic you can be for a new day? That is me!
I love to get up early now and survey my kingdom here.
It’s good to get up early now because it’s getting really hot outside!
When Girl Person and I were walking the path this morning, we said our prayer out loud. We always do that because it makes saying what we need to more real. Today we prayed as we always do that we would help someone in a big way, whether that be an animal or person. It’s what we want each day to show our appreciation for life and having the ability to talk to many people.
We were in fact excited about the day. Even though we have it hard here right now, we have a plan to turn this into a place to help animals. And yet, it’s not to that point yet. We have only been here less than a year and have done a lot. But we have so much to do. We are working day and night. We are tired. We are not giving up.
But knowing that opinions voiced we can see and even those we can’t see are out there that don’t understand our goals are so hard. Opinions are just that, though. Opinions. Everyone has them. But do we let others define our reality and define ourselves? No. We won’t do that. And Brickle may not be here, but his legacy is. And he won’t stand for it. Because we have work to do.
Humble opinions are not always humble. So sometimes you have to prove who we truly are to them. We don’t do it by words. Not even words on this blog. But words in action.
If others can’t see how I try to be the face of animal rescue and how we use our platforms, which are our resources each day to network rescues, that’s ok. I just hope that they try and do what they feel is a right way to help. Helping is never a bad idea. I hope they do that.
Just the last few weeks, we have been working for rescues in this area for wildlife in need. Trying to find solutions. Crying our eyes out because our property isn’t ready yet. We have to know our limits now or our full goal will be delayed and not reached. But my humble opinion is that today, we let the negative ones go. Keep working and realize many believe in us and see what we’ve done so far in our lives. Why would we change now?
We aren’t done yet. In my humble opinion, and Brickle’s never humble opinion, we aren’t stopping now. For anyone. Because someone, many someones need us.

You guys continue to amaze me! You are trying to fix the new (very old house), and also do animal rescues! Thank you for sharing your experiences.
I love what you’re doing and am so proud of the three of you now. Rescues are the best ever! I would like to help monetarily today, but being on a fixed income it gets hard to do some days. I will give you some money in the next Two weeks after my paycheck comes in, of course my rescue Ann gets a chunk of that also. Love you guys! Kim and Ann!
