If You’ve Had It Up To Here, Go There!

This is Digby Pancake.  Have you ever…had it?  Like the stress and pressures of every day life, especially now, has you saying “enough”?  We have!

Doesn’t everything that we have to do lately take more time, more energy and more brain power?  I have always believed that thinking is overrated, but you have to do that now.

We all have to be safe, but that doesn’t mean this is easy.  It really is not easy.

So maybe you feel like you have had it up to “there”. Wherever your there is.  We have too. So we went chasing waterfalls yesterday.

The persons say that generally, chasing waterfalls means that you are wanting something bigger or better than you have.  And those somethings make you work, work, work.  Those somethings cause you problems. So “somethings” are what you should not chase.

But yesterday, we decided that we needed to explore. To see something we have not seen before.  To make our brains think about something other than the stressful things in life. And waterfalls seemed like a good way to do that.  But the rain had other plans.

As soon as we got in our car, it started raining.  A little light rain at first, and then harder and harder and harder.  We had to go up and up and up a crazy road. Across creeks. A river.  Mud.   Other cars coming. It was a bit scary.  But it wasn’t the type of stress we usually had. It seemed more…fun. We were already deep in this mess. We kept going.

But when we got to that waterfall, we realized that we couldn’t even get out of the car. It was raining so hard that we were in our own waterfall.  But instead of being sad, we decided to drive again to another waterfall which was far away.  We thought maybe it would stop raining by then.  And you guessed it. We drove and it started raining when we got to the next one.But this time, we decided that as long as it was going to rain, and we were hiking to a waterfall, what was the harm in getting a little or a lot wet?

There was no stress in that.  In fact, all the stresses of the world seemed to float away with that rain. With laughing. With seeing and smelling new things.

Stress can have a way of making you not move. When that is what you NEED to do.

You get stuck in sadness. You get stuck in your thoughts. You get stuck in the bad stuff. You don’t think there is any way to go up.

We will all always have some kinds of stress.  But when it gets to be too much, you will know it.  Let your feet wander, and put a mask on. Or even let your your mind wander to an adventure by a book or a movie or looking at me. Or making me pancakes. Your choice.

Chase your happiness. Chase those waterfalls!

And even if you don’t reach them, you sure will have had fun trying.
