Oh, What A Beautiful Morning, Oklahoma!

This is Deputy Digby Pancake.  Let me be the first to welcome you to this Oklahoma place! Oh, what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day!

If there was ever a state built for happy, oh, it is this Oklahoma place.  I can feel it. I know happy.  And I am ready to be happy this week, are you?

Oh, what a beautiful mornin’,
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I got a beautiful feelin’
Ev’erything’s goin’ my way.

We had a very long drive yesterday from that Arkansas place to this Oklahoma place. We started off our morning there by a brisk walk along the Missouri River, which is confusing as anything since we were in Arkansas.  Whatever floats your boat, I suppose.

After our walk, the persons let us soak up some sunshiney before hitting the road.  A fellow camper told Boy Person what good dogs we were, that we were so well behaved.  Good dogs, she called us.  Good dogs.  Boy Person told her to give it five minutes and she might change her mind.  Well, we gave it ten to be polite, and as a too happy golden retriever pranced by our campsite, it sent us into hysterics and almost broke Boy Person’s arm and the grill.  Now that I have arrived in happy Oklahoma, I can only tell ya that is probably where that golden retriever was from.  The persons said sometimes we are such good dogs.  Sometimes, we are such bad behaving dogs.  Balance I say.  Balance.  Except for pancakes.

Do you know what I have found out about this Oklahoma place to start my happy?  They have something here called Fry Bread which in my opinion is a very close cousin to pancakes.  Girl Person is promising to make us a healthy version that me and the Sheriff can have.  So stay tuned for that.

Let me tell you some things I have learned about this Oklahoma place so far.  The people are nice and friendly and the land stretches for miles with dots of cows all over it.

All the cattle are standin’ like statues,
All the cattle are standin’ like statues,
They don’t turn their heads as they see me ride by,
But a little brown mav’rick is winkin’ her eye.

And we can’t wait to explore it.

All the sounds of the earth are like music
The breeze is so busy it don’t miss a tree
And an old weepin’ willer is laughin’ at me

We just hope you will get in this Oklahoma mood!  Are you ready?  It is not too late to start your happy this week if you have had a rough time.  We promise to get you happy. But you must sing along first.

Oklahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plain
And the wavin’ wheat can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain
Oklahoma ev’ry night my honey lamb and I
Sit alone and talk, and watch a hawk
Makin lazy circles in the sky

We know we belong to the land
And the land we belong to is grand
And when we say
Yeow! A-YIP-I-O-EE-AY
We’re only sayin “You’re doing fine Oklahoma!”
Oklahoma, OK
