Where There’s A Mill, There’s A Way

This is Peanut Butter Brickle. Some persons ask how old I am when they see me. They seem surprised when my persons tell them that I am 14 in human years. They seem to wonder how it is that I still walk so far every day and how I am as handsome as I was on day one.

But for me, there is no question that I want to live life despite what persons expect at a certain age. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. And I definitely have a will to enjoy every single day.

This can also be said about our little house in Italy. It’s still there after many, many years. How old is it? We have no idea yet.

We also don’t know its history. But there is one thing that we know. Once upon a time, there was a mill on the property.

What did they use the mill for? We don’t know. Yet.

You can make many things at a mill. A mill grinds things. Like grains into flours. Or grapes for wine. Or olives for olive oil.

Is the mill still being used on the property with our little house? No. It hasn’t been used in a very long time. But what a know is that when there’s a MILL, there’s a way.

A way to find out what can still be used on the property. And what can’t be used in the original way can be used in another way. Just like me and you.

We may age in years and we may not be able to do the things that we did at one time. But we can still do things and enjoy the little things. Like Digby did.

And we can certainly be used in other ways. Like for helping others. By being an example and by being kind. By using our wisdom and knowledge to make others better in their life.

Where there’s a mill, there’s a way. We have no idea what we are getting into.

But this place has already got into our hearts. And for that reason, we go.

Stay tuned next week to see more of the house and more details!
