This is Deputy Digby Pancake. Many things are important. Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner. Snacks. Naps. Sunshiney. Repeat.
There are things that are not so important. Like bad news. Like stress. Like each one of us. I said it.
You see, camping teaches you a lot of things. What you can live without. What you have to have. And how little of what we think we are is true.
What I am saying is that we are fragile. Yes. I even know this. Think about something as basic as water.
Think about if we didn’t have water for one day. What would you do? Think about if you couldn’t have a drink or wash your clothes, which I don’t wear pants so that’s not the point. But always is. How could you do anything without it? You’re made up of it. Without it, nothing matters. Not the important things you think you have to do. Not the people who think they are so important or their important stuff.
Nothing…no one is as important as the basic necessities we need for life.
You may not like to camp. And sometimes it’s hard to live simple because we get used to all the stuff. All the stuff that fills our time. And yet, that time could be spent watching and listening to things that happen all around us in a cycle that is more important than any news report.
The important are important and don’t even know it. The animals, the planets, the water. All important. So remember when you think that life has to be complicated for it to matter.
Remember the water and the simple yet needed things when others tell you your time is wasted on simplicity and kindness. Remember your role and how much more we can enjoy when we see the important.
