Who Knows What Tomorrow Brings?

This is Deputy Digby Pancake.  I felt you needed it.  You know.  A “Driving With Digby” on a Tuesday.  Today. Because who knows what tomorrow brings?

Who knows what tomorrow brings
In a world, few hearts survive
All I know is the way I feel
When it’s real, I keep it alive

This past day or so, we have been doing a lot of reflecting and thinking about how in the world we got to this place in our lives.  In 2011, when we first came here to Sonoma County from that Florida place, we would have had no idea the paths that life would take us on…or the many roads!  The persons thought about the mistakes we had made, the trials and I’ll be honest.  They weren’t thinking the Digby way. In other words, they were being really negative yesterday.  More like the Sheriff Brickle way.

Some hang on to “used to be”
Live their lives, looking behind
All we have is here and now
All our life, out there to find

I just don’t understand what persons are thinking sometimes, or literally, why they think at all.  If your life is spent worrying about tomorrow, how will you even get anything done today?

We have a choice right now, and a choice we feel may be the most important one we have ever made.  And that is how will we continue to stay together each day as a family?

Time goes by
No time to cry
Life’s you and I
Alive, today

We can’t get caught up in big payments where I can’t afford good quality pancakes, and we don’t want to struggle to buy organic maple syrup. I also would like to continue to eat sushi.

So how will the persons make sure we have a place to live that we are happy in, yet continue to focus on the important things? I just don’t know.  We don’t know.  But here are the facts reminded to me by Sheriff Brickle.  He’s not the Freshmaker but the Factmaker.

Sheriff Brickle reminded me that we are not homeless.  We in fact may live in a giant car, but we still have it, and we can drive anywhere we want.  There is no huge rush.  I am never in a rush.

He also reminded me that we are in a pretty awesome place.  Girl Person is so crazy sometimes that yesterday, she said she was sad because it was so beautiful here.

She said because it is so beautiful, she will be sad if we have to leave.  So she wants it to be not beautiful now?  Again, the persons make no sense.  I really think that it is up to us dogs to straighten you out.  But since Sheriff Brickle does such a good job at that, I will let him punch that time clock today.

We may not know what tomorrow brings.  And yep.  I think the persons are having a hard time with that. You see, we didn’t think very far beyond this trip.  The Adventure Of A Lifetime was expensive and we paid for every bit ourselves.  Sorry, but Brickle always tells it like it is. We are happy we did it, and we would never change it. NEVER. EVER.

But as Sheriff Brickle reminded the persons, we may not be able to afford to stay here. We may have to make somewhere else work.  And who knows? Maybe that place is where we are meant to be.  But we will figure it out.  Somehow we always do.  We just have to keep a positive attitude about our path, because even this part of our life is a path.  We just have to figure out the right one to go down.

Love lift us up where we belong
Where the eagles cry
On a mountain high
Love lift us up where we belong
Far from the world below
Up where the clear winds blow
