Don’t Just Talk To Anyone
This is Fruitycake. Monday’s are a hard day to get through, and you have already done that. That’s pretty great! I hope that your Monday was a day when you didn’t try to do too much. You may have a to-do list, but no one can do it all in one day. And you can’t solve all your problems in one day either. Not even if you tell the whole world about them and get all the advice there is.
I was thinking about this when I heard Girl Person saying a prayer yesterday. She has a lot on her mind, and she is trying to help our family make quick changes. She gets loads of advice. Almost as much as the loads of laundry Boy Person has to do now. But she is more selective now about who she talks to each day. She says you can’t just talk to anyone. If you’re going to talk, you have to make sure they are worthy to hear your words. They don’t have to solve your problems, but they must be kind.
So it’s time for today’s affirmation! Ready to say it out loud with me?
When I talk to others, and it’s good that I do, I will ask myself first if they are worthy of my time and my words. I will choose people to talk to who treat me with respect, who listen to me, and who don’t talk over me. I will choose people to talk to, whether by phone, text, or even email, who have shown by their actions that they care for me. If someone has repeatedly shown me they don’t have my best interests at heart, I will choose to talk to someone else or even pray. I am only going to put my words out there when I am reasonably sure they will be received with love.
I love you, dear family. There is no need for harsh actions, harsh words, or hate. Ever. Don’t accept that. But accept my love for you today.
