I Will Be A Breath Of Fresh Air

This is Fruitycake. Have you ever opened a window after a long, hot day? You know that feeling when the fresh air finally comes in and everything just feels a little better? It doesn’t fix everything. The room is still the same room. But somehow, it gives you hope that you can make it through.

Sometimes persons think they have to be the loudest one in the room or have all the answers. They think they have to carry every problem they see. But maybe today, the best thing you can do is simply be a breath of fresh air for someone else.

That might mean offering a smile instead of a complaint. Listening instead of interrupting. Encouraging instead of criticizing. Being patient when someone else is struggling. Sometimes the smallest kindness changes the direction of someone’s entire day, and you may never even know it.

The persons have had plenty of reasons lately to feel weighed down. There have been papers, appointments, uncertainty, hard decisions, and lots of carrying things up and down this mountain. But even in all of that, they still choose to look for reasons to smile. They still stop to help an animal. They still thank people for their kindness. They still laugh at me when I start thinking about pizza. That’s being a breath of fresh air.

So today, don’t wait for the world to change before you decide to bring something good into it. You can be the fresh air. You can be the calm. You can be the kindness that someone else desperately needs.

Now say this out loud with me…

I will be a breath of fresh air.
I will choose kindness over criticism.
I will bring peace instead of worry.
I will encourage instead of discourage.
I will remember that even the smallest act of goodness can change someone’s day.
Today, I will leave every place and every person a little better because I was there.
