This is Fruitycake. I’ve had so many fun things happen in my life. Car rides and train rides and RV trips and plane rides too! Traveling dog? I guess I am that!

With so many trips under my fur, and not my belt, because I don’t wear pants, I still get so many surprises each day! Even in the form of drama and hail. Hail? I had to ask myself the other day, what the hail?

Last week had been rough because a friend of ours passed away and my persons also had a few falls, accidents and hardships. You know, just a normal week I guess. But losing our friend was rough, and so me and Girl Person decided to go on my favorite hike. There was no rain and we set off.

Over half way on the trail, the thunder started and then lightening. We thought maybe it would be a quick shower, but we couldn’t have been more wrong.

I’ve never seen hail. And I’ve never felt it fall on me like that. It was mad! What the hail?! I don’t curse not in English, Italian or even dog. But I felt like it then.

It was cold and the water was pouring beneath our feet. We were soaked and bruised up pretty much. Girl Person kept trying to encourage me that we would be ok. And we were. But it was not a joke, this hail. And it covered everything.

When we got back home finally, Boy Person had been so worried and started a fire. We sat in front of that fire all day long and didn’t feel the least bit bad about it.

When we watched our video of the hail, Girl Person started bawling crying. All the emotions from the week were released just like that hail storm. It was what was needed. Especially for perspective.
She said losing our friend Nadene made us realize how short life is. All of us will have to say goodbye to someone we love.

And when we go, someone will have to say goodbye to us. Did we embrace the days with surprises like the hail? Looking back, we are so happy we got to have that experience together and laugh. Because it was funny. After all.

What the hail?

We may ask ourselves that sometimes. But also ask yourself what can I learn and laugh about from this? There is always something! I promise you that.
