This is Fruitycake. If there is one thing I would love to take a bite out of, it would be a whole pizza. Here in this Italy place, persons don’t order one pizza and share it. No! Each person gets their own pizza. I’m serious about this.
And I figure that if I took one bite out of one pizza, it would make it known that that pizza is mine. Get my plan?

But as much as I want to bite a pizza, dogs aren’t supposed to bite persons. Nope. And slugs shouldn’t either. I know. Seems pretty obvious.
But not to Girl Person. Because in the morning, she washes the clothes in buckets. And gets them out to dry. This time of year, it takes a few days for clothes to dry.

And so she has to get up earlier. When she was hanging up the clothes to dry, she saw a slug. You know, one of those big slugs here. They sometimes call them banana slugs in other places. Maybe even where you live.
She watched this slug and noticed how beautiful it was. It kind of had a brindle pattern like Brickle. She loved watching the slug, and she wanted to learn more about it and see it closer. So she decided to let it crawl on to her hand. She thought she was brave and all. But then, it started nibbling on her hand. And she freaked out like a person who had just ordered a pizza with a big bite out of it!

Now, she knew she was being ridiculous. Slugs don’t bite, right? She decided that it in fact felt weird. But not like a bite…really. She found out that slugs have many, many microscopic teeth and they do something like scraping with them to eat. And apparently, Girl Person’s hand looked like a pizza.
It’s funny how we can make things bigger in our minds, isn’t it? Sure, slugs don’t bite. But if you’re already scared and have preconceived ideas, it can hurt in your mind even if that is real or not.
Sometimes our biggest fears are imagined.
Sometimes our biggest worries are made up. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. But if you always can remember a slug doesn’t bite, how much braver will you be? So brave!

So remember the facts that you have made it thru many things. A slug bite doesn’t need to be worried about and you…are braver than you know.

Happy Rescue Story Of The Day
“I am Shelley and my heart dog was Digger. I went to the Humane Society looking for a small fluffy dog and came home with a 50 pound dog that had been there for 6 months.

Digger was the catalyst that changed them to no kill and I’m incredibly grateful that I’m the person that got to share my life with him.

I lost him to cancer in 2021 and have yet to get another dog – I certainly miss having one but when I check rescues what I really want is Digger and that may never change So for now I look to support rescue operations that make a difference both locally and internationally and you and the persons will be part of that.”
