The Crying Mushrooms
This is Fruitycake. If you have ever sat down in the forest or the woods and truly listened, you would know that there is much more to this world than noise that persons make.
The noises in the woods are not hard to hear. Trees sway with the breeze. Plants grow, bees buzz and you can even hear the mushrooms if you listen hard enough.
That’s what I heard when I sat in the woods one day. One day, we had walked right by that spot that the mushrooms were in. And we did not see them.
But the next day, there they were. So many of them. And no matter where we turned the gazes of our eyes, there were more.
Actually, it didn’t seem real. But it was real.
So many mushrooms and so many reasons to simply not see anything but them.
It was an all consuming feeling and glow around us. The crying mushrooms were getting louder and louder.
They were so happy to be growing and existing and ttogether. They couldn’t stop growing, in fact. They had a purpose in the woods together. They enjoyed their crying because it was a joyous, crying song. A happy, melodic chorus of laughter and crying at the same time. Living. And we started crying too.
If you know my persons, you know they love mushrooms. They’ve spent years foraging and learning. And when they saw all the mushrooms here it was yet another reason this land is ours to take care of. Oh, what magic and wonder!
The crying mushrooms cried louder because they knew we appreciated them.
