The Clothes That Sing

This is Fruitycake. I woke up yesterday to my normal ear rubs from Boy Person. It’s one of my favorite parts of the day. Imagine this. I go to sleep with my persons at night and get to be right between them. They tell me about my day and how wonderful I am. They even go back and forth coming up with songs and stories about me and my brothers Brickle and Digby.

Then, when I wake up it’s ear rubs and scratches and running out to see the waterfall. I love this routine. And it’s the usual commute to happy that I make every day, and the end of day commute too. Unless it’s raining. And then? It’s traffic time and running around by the persons. Yes, that happened yesterday.

The forecast said we had a break from rain that day. But the forecast once again proved its inability to do what its name is. It poured down, and Girl Person scrambled everything but the eggies to get clothes inside and wood too. Boy Person handled that part.

And all of a sudden I heard the singing. The clothes. Yes. The Clothes. They love to sing their songs this time of year. They go out, they come in.

They sing their songs by the fire. They know all the songs.

They get around.

It’s actually ridiculous.

Not many people travel as much as our clothes do.

Last year, Girl Person would just leave the clothes in the rain while it rained, thinking the rain would stop. But it never did. So when they get half dry, they get moved inside. That way, even if the sun comes out, they will be moved back out. If not, they have more of a chance to dry.

I know. Believe me. This is a lot of work. And yet, almost no one has dryers in Italy, even if they have all of the electricity. So we learn, we survive and we let the clothes sing.

Seems to me that there should be a new broadway play with the singing clothes. It would be a smash hit, I’m sure of it.

“I am a pair of pants

I am a long sleeved blouse

I only get worn by persons

Not by a mouse.

But if I was small

I would be sure to dry so fast

That way a mouse would wear me

I would be a dry pair of pants!

But instead I’m meant for people

Who don’t like me wet

But maybe, just maybe,

It’s the newest fashion yet.”

Well, the clothes that sing may have a sense of humor, but sometimes it is hard to keep one during the most unimportant events. Like the raining of the clothes.

We keep working towards better conditions and better ways of doing things. We have been used to convenience and comfort. We admit that. We’ve been used to the way we have always done things. But learning that we can make due is important. It makes us resourceful and better equipped to help others and learn. Thanks for being here with us. And if your clothes are dry today, you better check for mice.

Fruitycake

Imagine this…

A place that has daily, filmed rescue segments with interviews with rescues and shelters and wildlife officials all over the world.

A place that educates the world by means of social media and websites and resources on how people can make a difference for animals.

A resource of community where animal advocates can help each other.

A place where local foster dogs can have hiking days and rescue events.

A place where select volunteers can visit to help plant crops and resources to help others.

This is just the start.

A place called The 2 Traveling Dogs Oasis and Wildlife Sanctuary. Help us from the ground up today. We need you and we aren’t afraid to ask. It’s bigger than us and meant to be passed on to future generations to be preserved and continued.

Our goal, as it always has been wherever we roam is to show the life you can give to a rescue animal and live YOUR best life at the same time. We aim to Make Rescues The Breed Of Choice worldwide and it’s been our work since 2011 to showcase animal rescues, shelters and organizations around the globe making a difference.
