This is Girl Person. I felt the overwhelming feeling that I needed to write this blog today. I feel like not only do we have a lot of new people who follow us on our social media pages and blog, but we also have our longtime 2 Traveling Dogs family. And everyone might need a refresher, including us, on why we operate these sites and pages. And what we stand for, our goals, and the coming year ahead.
Many don’t know of they just read our blog that we have over a million Facebook followers alone. Some just read the blog. And may not see other parts of our work. Some may just see our social media pages. And not know about the blog. So here is a little bit of history. And explanations. The last year on social media, the hatred and judgment and comments are definitely on the rise. And maybe it’s because we haven’t explained enough.
In 2011, we decided to move to California with our dogs Peanut Butter Brickle and Digby Pancake.

We simply wanted a change, put our house up for sale in Florida and packed up. I wanted to show people how to safely move with dogs. And Facebook had just started. After some encouragement from my friends, I started the page and blog to document our move. Both Nate and I had regular, corporate jobs. But put them on hold to find work in California. We got a moving truck at a discount because of our blog, and we set off. We expected the house to sell quick. It didn’t.
After updating the blog on a daily basis with Brickle and Digby’s antics, the Facebook page took off. We had so many followers that I didn’t know how to keep up. I was going to a regular banking job each day and taking the dogs to daycare while Nate worked at his insurance job. I got laid off. And because of our following, and because I wanted to stay at home with our dogs, I started making their food and treats. When our house didn’t sell, we packed back up and moved back to Florida. Again, documenting our move and the personalities and viewpoints of our dogs. Our page just keep continuing to grow. And I decided that since my rescue dogs had changed my life, and others, and because I had this opportunity, I would turn our blog and pages into a way to help rescue animals and the people doing the hard work in shelters.
Fast forward to 2015, when our Facebook page reached a million followers. I knew we had to do more for animals. We put the house back up for sale, and in three days, it sold. We decided to get an RV with the funds from the house and take Brickle and Digby to every state in the USA and visit and film a shelter or rescue in every state on our dime. We had no sponsors. Nothing. And we did it. And our lives were never the same. Every single day, every day, since 2011, we have written a blog thru the eyes of our rescue dogs to show that every life matters. And that a dog can save your life too. We haven’t done animal rescue in the conventional way. But our way. And we would like to continue for people and animals alike in 2025.
Because we and our dogs have worked freely and happily on the blog and pages every day since 2011, documenting our real and every day life, we have continued to grow our pages. Which enables us to share animals in need from all over the world. Many people not in the social media industry may not understand how a page of our size works to keep going. Most charge in the thousands of dollars for one share to a page or more for a post. We won’t ever charge a rescue or shelter. No. That’s our giving back. We are able to network and help animals because we have worked hard every day to grow. Not on advertising dollars. Our dollars. Our videos and posts and shares are free. Our blog is free. Always. It’s our way of entertaining our audience so that hopefully they feel the need to tip or contribute to us. So that we can continue. It may not be a straightforward way to give back. Bug that’s what makes it valuable and able to save lives. Because these are animals who wouldn’t be seen in other ways.
Do we expect others to tip or contribute? No. Maybe you can’t . And that’s ok too. We all do what we can. And we have to take care of those in our families. Which is what we are trying to do as we help others in the process. Our creative ways of movies and and posts to help draw attention to the fact that animals are amazing is our goal. To save lives. And we can only do it in 2025 with your help. That’s the truth. As as have moved to Italy, yes, our family and content has expanded. But our goal remains the same. And hopefully, we will make our home comfortable for more rescues and more surprises this year. We plan to use this house and property for our ultimate goal of helping animals. And people.
So. The bottom line? We work for animals. We work for you. In this unique way. We barely make ends meet. But our hearts are filled with gratitude and the hope we can do more for you this year too with more traveling and entertainment. People who help animals are just as important to us as the animals. Because without you, we can’t do this. You are saving lives with every post and every blog. Never doubt that.
Now. What can you do to help? Our immediate want is a couch for Fruitycake and a future rescue. We are doing a movie production of 101 Dalmatians if we sell enough “spots”. You can purchase one here for you or in memory of a loved one. A couch? Yes. It means a place to sit and write and work. And relax. We have only had camping chairs for months. Which is a blessing too.

So proud of you and Nate. Please ignore the haters. They’re just “ignorant” of how to be kind to others. You’re doing a great job and I appreciate all you do to help those (dogs) innocent ones who can’t speak for themselves. You are loved!
I’ve been a subscriber for severe years now and love keeping up with Fruity. I began about two years before Digby made the walk over the Bridge. I’m so sorry that people feel the need to say mean and hateful things. The atmosphere here in the states has people thinking that they can say and do whatever they think. The divisiveness has created a toxic atmosphere. Please try to ignore those comments and know that those of us who support you as readers or donors, honor your mission. We love you and your family and many us feel you are our family as well. Haters will always hate and that is sad. Please know that the vast majority of us, support everything you are doing!
I started reading your blog and posts while Digby was still alive and you were still traveling. I look forward to your posts and blogs and the little movies. I love what you have accomplished on your little house and look forward to seeing the improvements. I never can donate much at any one time but I donate when I can. God bless you and keep you all safe. Thank you for sharing your lives and Fruitycakes.
Where and how do we go to donate to the couch and have it done in memory of a pet?
Thank you for this update. I had never learned the whole story before. It bothers me that I can’t contribute to your rescue, but I live on my Social Security that I had to take early because of my partner’s needs. I love reading your blog and all your posts. Thank you! You help me feel better about myself. I love reading about Fruity and your new (old) house. Thank you!
