This is Fruitycake. We had our first day of rain at our little house in Italy. Sure. We have been in rain many times. But this was a first here. Aren’t firsts wonderful things?
My first home with the persons may have came later than other dogs. But it made it even more special to me. Living alone on the streets with no bed and no food and no love was so hard. Harder than the concrete. But that’s only a very distant memory. And when I recall it, it simply makes me appreciate the now more. Even the first rainy day at my little house in Italy. And the first Fruity Festival today.
You see, when we left the United States place on an airplane, there wasn’t much room to bring a lot of luggage.
Brickle really needed his therapy bed and massager. And he needed his medicines and quilt. So what I needed was reduced down to my monkey ball and my raccoon and a toy Gandma gave me.
I was more than happy to let Brickle have most of the room. I’m also very glad that I did that now.
But the persons tell me that a bunch of people that love me wanted me to have some toys and treats and other things that I want. They want to cheer me up. And it has been something I’ve been thinking about. What would cheer me up.
And we don’t have a lot of extra money stuff right now. But today, the persons said it was time to celebrate me. A Fruity Festivale. And I get to go pick out some things that I want. Can that include pizza today? Oh. I think that it might.
We all need a special day to take care of ourselves. But for many, it can seem impossible. Even though Brickle wasn’t the best at taking a day off from work, he found little moments throughout every day to just “be”. Because that helped him to be his best.
I’m still finding my way to being my best. And I’m learning as I go. But one thing is for sure. The first Fruity Festival is going to be just what I needed. Thank you.
