This is Fruitycake The Raccoon. I’m not so knowledgeable about all of the going’s on of my new life. Travel is still new and I’m still learning.
I’m learning that I am safe. Most of the time. Unless a Squash Monster lives in your house.

We’ve been carrying around a giant squash in the RV for a few weeks now. Someone gave it to us. It took them a long time to grow it.

And well. Our persons only eat vegetables. So you would think the squash would be eaten up quick. But it seems to be an overwhelming endeavor for Girl Person to figure out what to do with it.
So on moving day, we wrap it up like a baby in a blanket to protect it. And we put it on the couch.
And it comes with us until we can figure out how to cook it.
But when we moved this weekend, Girl Person thought it needed a different place to hang out and look pretty until we were ready to use it. So she propped it up on the counter. We went to bed. And we forgot about it.
In the middle of the night, all of a sudden, all of us were awoken by a loud noise!
Jarring and scary and a menacing noise. It was our first night in this campground. And I was a bit nervous anyway. So when Girl Person jumped out of bed, so did Boy Person. They tried to figure out what had happened. Was our home rolling away?
Did a bear try to break in?
Boy Person didn’t hesitate to run outside in his skivvies to figure this out. When no one knows you, you have no reputation to worry about. Good thing. They couldn’t find anything wrong. Boy Person concluded a squirrel must have knocked down an antenna. And we tried to go back to sleep. Until the morning.
There he was. The Squash Monster. Laying down on the counter. He no longer was looking pretty on the counter but had lost all hope for being cooked up and fell down. With a thud. A large bang.
A monstrous surrender of sorts.
No. He wasn’t damaged. But it was a reminder, and a big one, to use him. To appreciate him. To not take for granted food when others have none. To do the work to enjoy him. Not to be scared by him.
Are we putting off something we should do because of the work? It will catch up with us eventually and or scare us in the middle of the night with regrets. Don’t be wasteful. Be resourceful. Enjoy the blessings you’ve been given.
Cook. The. Squash. Monster.

The #LiveLikeDigby Adoption Fund was started with generous donations from the good folks at 4-Legger and our friends…you!
Funds raised help hard to place dogs for adoption at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay in Tampa, Florida. We adopted Brickle and Digby from the Humane Society Of Tampa Bay and our lives were forever changed. Digby’s memory and legacy can be honored by donations to help other dogs in need. Funds go directly to the Humane Society Of Tampa Bay.
