This is Girl Person. I start my travels back to Italy today.  It has been a very long adventure, seven weeks to be exact.  As you may know, my surgery and recovery was supposed to be three weeks away from Fruitycake and Boy Person.  

Complications and more complications made it necessary to stay longer.  And as you also may know, I am not cleared for normal activity for another 12 weeks.  That means today is going to be hard! Two plane rides, trains and buses will bring me back to my boys. But I am only able to have had this chance to get better because of our supporters. And I want to thank you for your support in all the ways.  

Love shown to me and my family has not gone unnoticed.  And I am so happy to tell you that after personally visiting the shelter we adopted Brickle and Digby from, we have unbelievable projects planned for animal rescue!!!! It’s amazing to for me to tell you that the animals told me what to do. And I listened.  

Just like Brickle and Digby helped me to start 2 Traveling Dogs all those years ago, last Wednesday was just as much of a turning point for us, and we are now more sure and determined than ever to use our platforms for animals.  And we know how!! 

I’m not quite ready to share in details what this project will be because I’m still working out the specifics and logistics.  But I will share that this project will mean selling the rustico because of my health and a new rescue project …quickly. We have to.  I cannot physically handle this enormous responsibility.  Sometimes it’s an either or decision.  Life or death.  Now is that time.  

I will share more in the coming week, but today is the start.  Day one of cleaning up to start new.  I know some may be disappointed in us leaving the rustico.  But I have to believe that not only does this land and rustico deserve someone who can help it in a better way.  I know it was meant to teach us the lessons we needed and make us better for this next project for animals. 

I hope you’ll continue to follow us, to believe in us, and most importantly, find a way to learn with us.  We may not all be going thru the same things.  But we can use our combined experience to make the world a better place. 

As I sit on this plane, I look out the window, knowing you’re out there somewhere.  So is my Fruitycake and Boy Person.  They are waiting for me. And yet we aren’t waiting any longer to make changes.  I’m excited, nervous and scared.  But I am most of all thankful for those animals at the shelter this last week that told me what to do!! I may have had a life changing surgery, but those animals saved my life.  Now it’s time to save more lives together.  Thank you.  I love you all.
