The Wheels On The Bus Don’t Go Round And Round.

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle.  I have a shocker for you.  My looks?  Well, they can’t get me everywhere.  I know.  You probably had to have a seat, although I didn’t even tell you to.  The news is enough to warrant an arrest of myself for not warning you enough of shocking information in advance.  But I won’t arrest myself, because someone around here has to run the show.  And that’s me. That’s not a shocker at all.

We have spent all week getting ready to head out of this Florida place.  It seemed like the longer we sat in this spot in the woods, the more things went wrong.  But things going wrong are just part of the adventure I say.  And how do we know that the things happening are actually “wrong”?  Maybe it will all work out for the best.  But trying to get out of here has been a challenge.  Almost as challenging as Deputy Digby’s new diet.  And that my friends is a challenge.

Seems as though no one around here has the right tires for our Big Blue Treat Wagon. Boy Person spent days trying to find them, and well, we finally did.  But they can’t put them on until Tuesday.  And yet, we have to get out of the woods tomorrow.  So now…rest time is over.  Time to get out the woods tomorrow, head to a park in this Florida place still…if we can find a spot, then wait until Tuesday when tires can get put on this Big Blue Treat Wagon RV.  I can’t wait to get on the road again.  Literally.  Can we please get on the road again already?!

As Sheriff, it is part of my job to keep things moving. I have to keep everyone in line, but I can’t change tires on this gigantic bus.  Well, I can, but it seems as though it would be risking my handsome if grease got on me. So the only thing I can do is keep everyone focused for the trip ahead.  Progress may not be happening on our time schedule, but it is happening.  Safety is our utmost concern, and I hate to say it, but costing us a few extra days to be safe is worth it.  When we DO get on the road again, this is going to be the best time ever.  I feel it as much as I feel everyone staring at my handsome all the time.

Now.  This is our last night of rest, because somehow I feel this weekend is going to be eventful trying to find a camping spot.  But it is the start of this Adventure Of A Lifetime again. Are you ready?  Let’s go!

And I can’t wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Goin’ places that I’ve never been
Seein’ things that I may never see again
And I can’t wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We’re the best of friends
Insisting that the world keep turning our way

This is Deputy Digby Pancake.  I have a question.  Do you love a good book?  Do you love reading a good book with a stack of pancakes?  I sure do.  But the book has to be AS GOOD as my stack of pancakes.  Our favorite book is called The Endless Path by Laurie Duperier and her dog Gunny.

If you loved the book A Dog’s Purpose, you will love, love, love this book even more.  It changed our lives forever, and thru the month of February, if you order through this link, we will get $5 from every book to help fund our Adventure Of A Lifetime animal rescue mission.  So…get a stack of pancakes, some maple syrup, and a copy of The Endless Path today!

Order only at

I hope this [book] will inspire people. I like to think that this could be a start of the human race understanding the animal kingdom. I hope people will read this to their dogs and cats and horses so they know they have a voice. They can actually be heard. They can communicate their thoughts and feelings.

We are all of us alive and are all connected to the same consciousness. Life is life, souls are souls.

Wide Open Spaces

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle.  I have a question. Why is it so easy to say hello but so  hard to say goodbye?  Why is it so easy to think about home, but so hard to leave it?

We struck out on a trip that many thought we were crazy to do, and I guess we were…and crazy to finish it.  Here we are…at the safety of home.  Yet we are leaving again to finish our 14 remaining states and rescues.  And we thought twice about leaving.  Especially since we had to say goodbye to Gandma and Gandpa yesterday and Girl Person’s best friend person.

Wide open spaces seem to be calling us.  They seem to be calling our hearts and our help is needed for these rescues around the country…so we have to go.  But no one ever said it was easy.

There may be things about your home that you don’t particularly care for.  But what if you had to leave it forever?  Would you miss the signs with your home city’s name on it?  Would you miss the people you know?  Would you miss the familiarity?

That is how we feel this week.  Adventure may be calling our names, but so are memories.  So are special people that care about us and wish the best for us.  We are no different than you.  So bear with us as we are a little melancholy.  Since I always look like this, you may not notice much of a difference.

Home is a place many people try to leave. Home is a place many people try to go back to .  For us, we don’t know where we want to be yet after our adventure.  What we do know is that the people that call this Florida place home are people we love and that we will miss.  So packing up is such sweet sorrow.

But we have to finish. We have to do this.  And we thank you for doing along with us.  Just a few more days and we are back on the road.  We can do this.  I think. Wide open spaces.  Here we come.
