This is me…Aspen. I am a boy with a tender heart. Oh, and yes, I love chicken tenders too. I love walks and hikes and car rides. I like crawling under blankets. I give what the people here call “hound hugs.” When I finally decide that you are one of my people, I don’t love you halfway. But there is something else you should know about me. I survived. I don’t know what a gun is, but I know it hurt. That is behind me, but the future is in front of me! So is my hope you find me!
I am smart and very food motivated, which seems to me like an excellent combination. I thrive with routine and structure, and Friends of Homeless Animals has placed me in its Diamond Dog Program, which gives dogs like me additional training support and guidance to help us succeed after adoption. FOHA is even willing to help my adopter with behaviorist support during my transition.
I’m also eligible for FOHA’s Foster Forward Program, which gives long-stay animals the opportunity to experience life outside the shelter and can help increase their chances of finding a permanent home.

Aspen is exactly why we created This Is…Me. There are real dogs sitting in real shelters and rescues right now, waiting while social media becomes increasingly crowded with recycled photos, stolen stories and AI-generated animals. We want to give people a place where they can stop scrolling, meet an individual animal and know: this dog is real, this organization is real and this story matters. Each This Is…Me dog is researched and verified before we share their story with the 2 Traveling Dogs community and the millions of people our content can reach online.
Shelters and rescue organizations, we want your dogs. There is no need for a fancy submission. Send us the animal’s name, photos or original adoption post, location, shelter or rescue name, adoption/contact information and the original source. But most importantly, tell us who that animal really is—the funny habit, favorite treat, best friend, strange little quirk or the thing a potential adopter would never learn from a kennel card. Please include the animal’s name, photos or original post, location, shelter or rescue name, current adoption/contact information and, most importantly, something about who that animal really is beyond what is written on the kennel card. Tell us what makes them funny, special, ridiculous, loving or completely unforgettable. There is no charge to shelters or rescues to submit an animal. We’ll do our best to verify the information and help tell their story to our audience.
