This is Digby Pancake. Are you an athlete? Are you into fitness?

I used to think I was more of a spectator. Unless pancake eating is a sport. In that case, I was definitely a winner.

But Girl Person told me yesterday that she hadn’t realized how truly gifted I was at my sport.

She said I might want to take up a sport called Rugby.

Since I roll around on rugs and everything else all the time.

Rugby. Never heard of it. But I have heard of rolling around. And I really like to do it a lot. It makes me feel good. I’m good at it. I am happy when I do it.

And I push myself to achieve new moves and heights as I do it. No one has my moves.

Now. I have no idea how persons play Rugby.

I can only guess it takes skill. I can only guess it’s not easy.

I can also guess that the players want to win. But I want to win too.

My reward however isn’t something you can hold up and admire.

My trophy is life. Enjoying another day. No matter what that day may bring. With all the times I haven’t felt so good, I fight to win another day. I fight to win time. And that’s how I play the Digby game of Rugby. I don’t give up.

Winning at a sport or something you like to do isn’t about being better than someone else. It’s about being better than you used to be.

What’s your reward for how you live life? What’s your trophy? Yes. You will get one for all the work you do. You will get one for how you play the game of life.

Make sure the trophy you get is worth it.
