December 1, 2021 was one of the hardest days of our lives. Losing Digby Pancake, our friend and inspiration was devastating. We know that you, our family and friends also felt the pain as well. He has been a part of our lives and a part of your lives each day, in some way, for over a decade.
And really, the pain and sadness has been harder than I could have imagined. Feeling so much pain was not what Digby would have wanted for us.
He fought to live thru many illnesses for many years. He wanted to live. He wanted to be with us. And he is.
When the persons behind the company 4-Legger came to us with an idea to honor Digby and continue his love of life, we were honored. And we are excited today to bring to you some big news! Some news that Digby Pancake would agree with and smile about. The Live Like Digby Adoption Fund!
We adopted Digby Pancake from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay in 2010. Little did we know that he along with his adopted brother Peanut Butter Brickle would start our journey to “Make Rescues The Breed Of Choice!”
After Digby passed away, many asked us what we were going to do. We did think about stopping our travels. We did think about taking a break from animal rescue. The emotions were so raw.
And when 4-Legger came to us with an idea and we met with the Humane Society of Tampa Bay to ask for their help, everyone came together for us, for Digby and for hard to place dogs who will be helped by this fund!

What is the Live Like Digby Adoption Fund?
The Humane Society Of Tampa Bay explains!
“Help adoptable dogs with your donations to the Live Like Digby fund! 4-Legger is going to be matching the adoption fees for our harder to place dogs. The Live Like Digby campaign is in memory of Digby Pancake, who was adopted from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay and is one of the 2 Traveling Dogs. Your gift will match adoption fees for the homeless dogs and help create some wagging tails and happy pup smiles!”
The Humane Society Of Tampa Bay will be choosing harder to place pups to motivate potential adopters 4-Legger will also be donating their organic dog shampoo to each adoptee as well!
Not only will Digby continue to be part of the 2 Traveling Dogs, he will always be part of 2 Traveling Dogs! And now because of 4-Legger, The Humane Society Of Tampa Bay and persons who choose to adopt, more dogs will be helped.
We will be sharing adoption stories when a dog is rescued and you will see the difference that Digby will continue to make. That way, Digby can continue to inspire us all.
Without our friends at 4-Legger, this would not have been possible. To know that they loved him and our family and community of friends who have loved Digby over the years leaves us speechless. So we will continue to let Digby do the talking through the difference he will continue to make.
And we thank the Humane Society Of Tampa Bay, CEO Sherry Silk and staff for making this fund possible and for overseeing it. It will be a lot of work and follow-up and we appreciate that!
