This is Peanut Butter Brickle. I sure do miss Digby Pancake. I miss him each and every single day. I can’t laugh every day about the memories. But sometimes, I recall things about our time together that does make me laugh.

Like what happened yesterday.

I don’t know if you remember how scared Digby was of snakes.
I’m sure he learned to be scared. Who wouldn’t be scared when walking with Girl Person? The times she saw a snake on the trails, she would scream. She would run. She would alert the whole country about the snake sighting. No matter if it was poisonous or not. And so Digby learned over the years that it was his job to spot the snakes first. And everything became a snake. He would jump so high over any random stick, branch or leaf.
Sometimes Girl Person and I would laugh until our sides hurt over his jumping.

But yesterday, as we were walking in the campground, there was a snake. Nope. I didn’t see it. I have been used to that being Digby’s job. And Fruitycake certainly didn’t see it. Oh, but Girl Person did.
And since the snake was right outside the restroom, I’m sure a bunch of people fell off whatever they were sitting on when she screamed.
Fruitycake had no idea what happened. And I had to explain the harmless black snake that had caused such a stir. I had to tell him we can’t take chances with snakes. And it’s now his job to be the alerted. It’s my job to laugh at him now.
We can sure take others for granted like I did Digby with his snake spotting skills. The little things others do for us are in actuality the big things. The caring things. The important things.
Be observant to what others do for you. Thank them. Make them jump for joy at being recognized.
But don’t jump on a snake.
