Well, Lawd Have Mercy, Louisiana!

This is Deputy Digby Pancake.  Oh, what a week we had in this Louisiana place!  But it’s time that we head to our #37 state on this Adventure Of A Lifetime, somewhere called Arkansas.  We’ve got a long way to go…and a short time to get there.  At least a seven hour drive in the rain today.

First point. Arkansas does not sound like you spell it.  But I am a dog, so I don’t have to spell, therefore, I do not care so much.  Beignet also does not sound like it is spelled either, but I don’t care because we probably ate all of them in Louisiana anyhow. And Sheriff Brickle almost got arrested by himself for his love of beignets.  Well, lawd have mercy, Louisiana! I cannot watch this enough times.

Not only did we get to visit New Orleans, but we got to visit with the pawsome animal rescuers, the Magnolia Chapter Of The Humane Society Of Louisiana in Franklinton. Here’s the episode of “Stop Hounding Me” with them in case you missed it.

We stayed at one of our absolute favorite parks so far, the Bogue Chitto State Park.  Probably, it was in our top five picks on this trip.

A river, a beach, peaceful walks and stars so bright that it made us forget all of our problems.  When you look up at the stars, you realize how small we are and how our problems don’t mean a thing.  As our Gandma always says, when you are feeling bad, look up.

We then got to go to the northeast part of Louisiana and visit another place, Poverty Point. We went to the dog-friendly Poverty Point National Monument.  If you ever get a chance to see this, it is pretty neat, even for a dog.  People lived her many, many years ago and their houses made out of the earth still has remains here.

Lawd have mercy, Louisiana!  You have so much to offer. Your food is great, your people are friendly, and there are great things to do.

Well, almost all of your people are friendly.  Seems as though some fellow campers who were trying to climb a hill on the back of our campsite were scared to death by a Sheriff and a Deputy.  Seems as though they said we were rabid.  Actually, they said that the dogs with rabies would eat them up.  Well, if you are a Louisiana beignet we may eat you up.  But we don’t have rabies. Why would you think that?

Lawd have mercy, Louisiana!

We will miss you.  But it is time to head to that Arkansas place today and somewhere called Hot Springs.  Sheriff Brickle says that is also an appropriate place to go since he is so hot.  Puleeze Brickle.  Lawd have mercy.  Did you forget how many beignets you ate?  Your butt didn’t.  Your butt also didn’t forget about the jambalaya Girl Person made us.  And if you missed her live demo on the Facebook page, check it out here.

Lawd have mercy, Louisiana.  We will never forget you. Thanks to everyone who made our time here so nice.

Today, we have one of the longest drives we have had in awhile. It is going to be hard, but we can do it.  Wanna come to Arkansas?  We are going to be visiting with the Hot Springs Village Animal Welfare League this week and meet some of their adoptables like Tiny, whose mom died recently.  He only has three legs, but that doesn’t stop him from cuddling. He needs a forever home.

So let’s have some fun in Arkansas like we did in Louisiana. Till next time, Louisiana place, “Il faut je fais route”. (That means I’ve got to hit the road in french barking).
