This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle. They say that absence make the heart grow fonder. That is what I have heard. Well, if that was the case, then why does Digby Pancake freak out when his dinner is five minutes late? Does it make it taste any better because it took longer to get? No, he just eats it faster. So to say that when the persons are about to leave on their trip to Italy on Saturday, and when we have to go to our Aunt’s house tomorrow is just…well…nonsense.

But I know it is for a good reason. I know that why this trip is necessary in many different ways. So I am pretending. Pretending that I am ok with all of this.

As we woke up this morning and watched Digby smell the campfires and look out the RV windows, I wondered something.

Why is it that you start appreciating someone or something all of a sudden that you have taken for granted when you know that the next day you won’t see them?

Camping is hard sometimes. The dirt, the long drives, the uncertainty of the day to day…the campground showers. And when it seems like you are fighting thru all that, sometimes, you overlook the time you weren’t doing it. That is how it is for us.

It’s been almost three years since we lived in a house without wheels. We have spent most of our time together. And we have learned to rely on each other very much. And I am finding it hard to pretend that the next two weeks won’t be hard. And I may need your encouragement.

If you are worried you won’t be seeing me, our aunt will be posting pictures from us. And the persons? You will be with them every step of the way from Tampa to London and then London to Milan and then Milan to the Cinque Terre! You are going to help them look at houses and see the areas and help them decide what to do! So let’s put on our big person pants…except for Digby who does not wear pants ever, and let’s do this!
