There comes a point when an idea has to stop being an idea. We need your help.
You can talk about it. You can make plans for it. You can explain why it matters until your paws hurt from explaining. But eventually, somebody has to say, “Okay. We are starting.”
And that is what we are saying this week about This Is…Me.
We created This Is…Me because something has changed online. It is becoming harder to know what is real. Pictures can be generated. Stories can be copied. Rescue posts can be stolen and changed. Dogs who do not exist can get thousands of shares while an actual dog sitting in an actual kennel waits for someone to notice them.
That bothers me considerably because I happen to be an actual dog.
And I think actual dogs should win.
This Is…Me is our way of helping them do that. We want to find real rescue dogs, verify that they and the organizations caring for them are real, and then tell their stories in a way that makes people stop scrolling long enough to see the individual dog behind the adoption post.
But building this takes work. Every dog has to be researched and verified. We have to communicate with the shelter or rescue, confirm the information, create the story and then share that dog on our blog and social media.
So this week, we are asking you to help us officially get This Is…Me off the ground.
For $35, you can sponsor one real rescue dog. You tell us what state you would like your dog to come from, and we will find a dog who needs some extra attention. We will do the due diligence to verify that the dog and organization are real, create their This Is…Me story and share that dog with our community.
Our goal is two today. Will you be one of them?

And underneath that dog’s post, it will say:

Our goal right now is very simple: at least TWO sponsored dogs every day.
Two sponsors. Two real dogs. Two verified stories.
Then tomorrow, we do it again.
And the next day, we do it again.
Dog by dog and state by state, we can start building something that we believe is desperately needed in rescue right now.
Eventually, we envision This Is…Me becoming much bigger. Shelters and rescues will be able to submit dogs, verified stories can be connected to kennel cards and QR codes, and someone standing in front of a kennel—or looking at a dog from hundreds of miles away—can hear that dog’s story and know there is a real animal behind it.
But we cannot build the big version without starting with the first dogs.
So this is where we start.

Maybe the dog we feature because of you is already waiting for their person to see them.
