This is Fruitycake. They say you can never go home again. Then why do we keep going there? Seems all roads right now lead back to the rustico.

When we went to that Genoa city last week in this Italy place, we had high hopes that the persons would get the papers we needed after all these years.

We never thought that it would be possible to keep making us wait. But never think something is impossible in the Italy place. Many things, like the food, seem too good to be true. Some things that they tell you just are not true, though. Like the fact you have an appointment when you don’t.

Some have asked my persons why, if we are selling the rustico, do we have to get papers? Well, it’s like when you’re in someone else’s house. You follow the rules. It’s not your right to make your own because it’s their house. We are in someone else’s house…well, country, right now. And even though we are selling the rustico, we do what we are asked to do while we are here.

I don’t understand all these person matters because persons don’t even understand them. They make things up as they go along. Sometimes things work out. Sometimes they don’t. But you always have to be polite, prepared, and grateful when you’re in someone else’s house. You do what you can to be appreciative of what is given to you. And when it’s time to leave, you don’t overstay your welcome.

This week, we have many people who are coming to look at the rustico. We don’t know if anyone will want it. But we sure hope the right person does.

We have been careful about who we let come and see it because we want them to understand the work, the responsibility, and the significance of this place.

As long as this is our house, we will take care of it so the next ones can do their best too. Isn’t that what is best for the world? If we all took care of what we are fortunate enough to have, what we passed on would be better for the next. And that’s the goal of life.

We know how much work this has been, and we know we can’t do it any longer. So we will pray the right ones for the rustico and the wildlife are out there…and we will welcome them here with open paws.

P.S. If you would like to help my persons today, we could really use your support. Today is grocery day, and after being away in Genoa, the cupboards are looking pretty empty. We also need fuel to keep the fans running as this heatwave continues. Every donation, no matter the size, helps keep both the persons and me safe, fed, and cool while we continue working to sell the rustico, preparing for house showings, and working every day to Make Rescues The Breed Of Choice! Thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us through another hot summer day.
