Before The After, There Is A Before
This is Fruitycake. The last week was kind of a mess, to tell ya the truth. And I tell the truth and nothing but the truth with my paw on a cookbook. That is serious.
The mess wasn’t because of the weather this time, because we have had some sunshiney days! It’s felt like we were waking up from a very long sleep of winter.
Although we have more rain coming tomorrow and this week, we know that winter is on the way out. And our forecast only calls for positivity! How can you not be positive when the bees are buzzing and the birds are chirping?
How can you not be positive when the pizza stays warm a little while longer?
We are making progress here at the rustico, and not just on the little house with big problems.
We are also making progress on getting Girl Person better. She had to make a very hard decision. And I have been really down.
She had a talk with me and told me that she has to leave for almost three weeks to go to that Florida place by herself for surgery.
Me and Boy Person will stay here and wait for her while she sees Gandma and Gandpa. They haven’t seen her in almost three years and Gandpa is very sick too. Girl Person felt like this was the best decision for her health and that she would rather go and get back and be able to rest there. It’s very hard to rest here.
But I understand that before there is an after, there is a before. To get to the after of being better, you have to go thru the hard things.
But it doesn’t make my heart or the persons’ hearts hurt any less right now.
So on Saturday, the persons decided to drop everything and take me for a different and new hike. They thought I needed it so I stopped worrying. And I have to tell you, it did help. It helped for us to all talk openly and together. It helped to see how far we have come when we looked over the horizon at the sea.
It helped when they said three weeks will go by fast and the long term “after” is just the start of better things to come.
No doctor person could do the surgery before mid May. So we have a little time to get stocked up on my foods and lists and preparations. This is the “before” but just making the decision to get better is a good start.

Can you start today? This may be your before too. But maybe we can all get to our after together so we are all out best!
