This is Fruitycake.  Life has a way of teaching you lessons whether you want to learn those lessons or not. I would prefer not to have lost half of my ball supply to the mountains of Portofino, Italy.

You would have thought that I would not have lost so many balls after the first time one rolled away…down, down, down.

Girl Person can get them sometimes. But her lack of coordination and confidence makes for a very treacherous rescue operation.

That being said, she hates my look of disappointment when I don’t have a ball to carry up the path.  So she tries to distract me with a stick.  Yes. Sometimes I will give in, but most of the time, she gives in.  Lack of balls explained.

So yesterday, she tried a new endeavor. I was quite smitten with a cloth bone and squeaker.

So she thought she would try to have that be the new walk toy.  After all, it couldn’t roll away.  And we tried it…I liked it…and well, it’s over the cliff no more!

It was not easy to try a new approach to the ball falls.  I didn’t think anything could compare.

But eventually I had it realize that doing the same thing over and over was not going to yield different results.

You see, sometimes we can keep doing something or even trusting someone over and over again. We don’t want to give up hope that things will change.  It’s ok to keep trying if you see improvement.

But you also have to know when to stop throwing your balls off the cliff.

Take it from me, if your efforts keep failing and falling, eventually it will be you that falls the hardest.

So change while you can..find a new way. And you may just see it keeps your feet on the ground.
