This is Fruitycake. Sometimes I sure do feel like a wild child. You know, a groovy kind of fellow who likes to wear yellow. A flower child with wild flowers in my fur, and bare paws in the dirt. Sure feels good to be free.

I didn’t always feel this way. Although I still have leftover fears from life on the city streets, I find myself going back to my wild side here at the rustico. We spend our days being wild. No electricity and no running water will do that.

My persons say they feel very alone here. But very connected.  They feel invisible, but seen. They feel forgotten, but recognized.  That’s confusing. But true. And I understand that too.

Have you ever wondered how you would feel if you were all by yourself in nature? Would you be able to face who you really are without all of the commotion around you? That’s something that we have definitely had to come to terms with.

Because if everything you think that you are is based on outside things, people or influences we allow into our minds and let define us, what will happen if you begin to see the wild side of yourself?

We all were wild to start with. When we came into the world, we were like clay.  We learn things from others who may be lost too. So when we try to face who we are underneath it all, we may be confused. We may be sad that we have let ourselves go.

But you know what? We can all get back to the wild place of our lives. Where we look for answers as to who we want to be. Where we search for the best version of ourselves.

When we embrace how wild we can be for the rest of our time here on this earth. If you have just a minute left, it’s worth it to be wild.

Today we have to go to that Genoa city place and it’s definitely going to be a long, long day with lawyer persons, doctor persons. trains, buses, and papers. Wild? Maybe not like up here on the mountain.

But a place to start with healing and mending. Let’s start the journey, all of us, to that true, wild place.
